UK troops in Iraq to be reduced (by 10% - all training Iraqis!)
If the true purpose was to get the Iraqi army and police independent, you'd have thought you'd keep the maximum number of training personnel there, wouldn't you?

Defence Secretary John Reid has announced the numbers of UK forces in Iraq will be reduced by 800.

He told the House of Commons this would be made up of personnel who have been training the Iraqi security forces, which now numbers 235,000.

But this is not part of the "handover of responsibility", he told MPs.

The UK has 8,000 personnel taking part in Operation Telic in the south of the country.

1. Saw the statement in the Commons
Reid giving the usual bullshit, those who were there were having none of it. George Galloway of course, was nowhere to be found.

Interestingly, the Lib Dem new boy used it as a chance to press for a inquiry into Deepcut
