Bush Seeks to Hasten Abortion Litigation
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-3381540,00.html

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Bush administration is
seeking to expedite legal proceedings before
three federal judges who last week blocked the
government from enforcing a new law banning
certain late-term abortions.

According to court papers, the government wants
to skip preliminary stages in each of the three
lawsuits and move directly to separate trials. In
doing so, the government said it would agree to
extend to 120 days the temporary restraining
orders that judges in Nebraska, New York and San
Francisco issued last week.

1. Someone needs to explain to Bozo how the judiciary works
What's the pressing cause to expedite these cases? More importantly, does the Bush administration have the slightest understanding that an entirely different branch of government is responsible for issuing stays? In other words, the 3 judges in question could tell the Bush administration words that should sound familiar: who cares what you think?

3. They said he was a cheerleader back in college.
Maybe someone dropped him on his head and he forgot how the separation of powers is suppose to work in the U.S.

4. They want to lose
they can win by losing, but they need the cases to be decided in the heat of the campaign --- feeding their base is a full-time job, and the feeding of the base has to be finessed - timing and subject matter are terribly important.

If they had actually wanted this law on the books, they would have made sure it passed constitutional muster, they didn't -- they wanted the theater of the debate, the theater of the bill signing, and the theater of the court battle.

With the modern GOP it is NEVER about policy, it is ALWAYS about politics.
