VIOLENCE IN MEXICO CITY
'Suffering ... for water'
Riots surround a global summit seeking answers to a problem that's getting more acute

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - Violence broke out Thursday as experts and conservationists from around the world gathered to search for ways to safeguard one of the world's most precious commodities.

A gang of youths, many of them in ski masks, attacked a patrol car with sticks and rocks, and riot police fired tear gas into the crowd, local media reported. At least a dozen protesters armed with knives, pipes and Molotov cocktails were arrested in a separate incident on the first day of the fourth World Water Forum in Mexico City.

Mexican President Vicente Fox urged 11,000 delegates from about 120 nations to work together to prevent a worsening of the water crisis that is already plaguing parts of the world. "Our survival depends on a profound change in attitude," he said.

One billion people lack clean drinking water and 2.6 billion are without adequate sanitation, according to the United Nations, and shortages are expected to get worse when the world's population hits 8 billion in two decades.

In the Mexican capital, tomorrow's crisis is already here.

1. "Our survival depends on a profound change in attitude,"
Actually, our survival depends on having fewer people on earth. Sadly, there isn't enough fresh water to go around, and there aren't enough jobs to go around.

Riots/ revolts/ uprisings over water will soon become a common event ...

...as the Carlye group and others set out to buy/steal/"OWN" the world's water supplies in every country.

They can't own our earth--technically, ownership is only an accepted agreement amongst ourselves--
money itself is just an agreement -

Ever see the Twilight Zone episode where the bank robbers steal gold and go into a cave to freeze themselves in suspended animation --->only to wake up in a future world where gold is worth NOTHING?

when things get really desperate the people always rise up.

Police Detain 17 People Amid Violent Protest at World ater Forum in Mexico City

By MARK STEVENSON

MEXICO CITY Mar 17, 2006 (AP)— Groups of young demonstrators battled with police, smashing a patrol car and hurling rocks during protests that continued into Friday morning at the World Water Forum.

Police stopped a massive march late Thursday about a mile from the convention center where representatives of 130 nations were debating ways to bring more water to the poor.

The government news agency Notimex reported that police detained 17 people found carrying homemade gasoline bombs, rocks and sticks. At least one police car and a police motorcycle were smashed and at least two journalists were injured.

The seven-day forum, which began Thursday, pledged to focus on the world's poor, many of whom live on less than 2 1/2 gallons of water per day one-thirtieth of the daily usage in some developed nations. But protesters said the conference represented big corporations interested in running water systems for profit.
