Blair to Take Bush Down the Pub -- Maybe
<http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=9&u=/nm/bush_britain_pub_dc>

<snip> But the Trimdon rumor mill went into overdrive on Thursday, with people at odds over which lucky restaurant or pub would get the presidential seal of approval.

"He was supposed to be coming here but they changed their minds at the last minute," said a barmaid at the Trimdon Constituency Labor Club, a no-nonsense pub and social club where Blair celebrated his 50th birthday in May. "We don't mind though -- with Blair living round the corner, we're not easily starstruck."

One taxi driver said police helicopters had been buzzing the area and local newspapers said teams of FBI (news - web sites) agents had been seen, taking notes and photographs.

Do you really think that Rove will allow bush* to mingle with the "average folk"? And take the chance some good British citizen will spit on AWOL? Not likely!

5. "average folk"?
$hrubya's handlers are scouring the UK for freepers as we speak. :eyes: It's a safe bet that the normal punters will be kicked out waaaaaay in advance.

On a side note, there a few times when Phoney B:liar looks more uncomfortable then when he has to knock back a pint of bitter for the cameras. As it is champagne bubbles get up Bliar's nose and he gets up mine.

6. Shall we start taking bets on this never happening?
Or will they replace all the pub regulars with programmed androids?

9. It will be created on a stage as in Hollywood...with live people
and using the backdrop of a pub...the reality will be...it's in an underground bunker..in the bowels of the palace.

Maybe even the dungeon...yes...I like that setting.

19. Thanks! I stand corrected ...
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation shows a lot of BBC programmes, along with "Coronation Street", and I just assumed.

Weirdly enough, somebody in Canada built a replica of the street (including the pub) -- in a small town on Vancouver Island.

It's average looking and maybe Kat could wait on them for the effect of a commoner bowing down to King Jr.

Blair & Bush pretending to be everything that they are not? Perish the thought! :eyes:

These politically charged dinners are normally five-course affairs eaten off white linen, but the folksiness of the Bush White House has by now pervaded the Republican party. The menu on this night was hot dogs and peanuts, served from food carts and eaten standing up.

"I think it's great because I thinks folks would rather be eating hot dogs with President Bush than sipping wine and nibbling cheese with Hillary Clinton," declared George Allen, a Virginia senator.

The men and women in the ballroom had paid a minimum of $1,500 (£900) for their hot dogs, and almost all of them had contributed much, much more. The single night brought the Republican party a total of $14m. "You don't raise that kind of money at barbecues and backyard sales. You raise it from big business," said Charles Lewis, who runs the Washington watchdog the Centre for Public Integrity.
