France urges policy shift on Iraq
France has called for an urgent change of American strategy in Iraq to end what it called a spiral of violence.
Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said a provisional Iraqi Government should be set up to run the country by the end of the year.

His comments came as US President George W Bush said steps were being taken to speed up the transfer of power in Iraq.

France led opposition at the United Nations to the US-led invasion of Iraq.

2. This is not a new mantra for France.
Will someone in 2004 be willing to show all the times that France has been CORRECT in their suggestions/predictions?

France has been our friend and ally, in spite of differences of opinion, for a long time. It is we who turned our back on them during difficult times.

Shame on us.

I'll also say that the issue of France v. US is the only issue that has ever caused me to lash out during a discussion with a conservative friend. I actually said, "Shut up!" when he cast dispursions on France. "France is our FRIEND! What are you saying?!" I said. I regret my words because it alienated him somewhat, but I don't regret my assertions. I believe I have been proven correct, as I suggested I would be. Still, we can not alienate the opposition any more than has already been done.

To quote the pledge of allegiance: "...indivisible..."

3. If only our media had the courage to tell conservatives...
to stop casting aspersions on our allies, as you did with your friend, we might get somewhere as a nation.
