US senators talk tough with Iraqi PM over new govt
http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=politicsNews&storyID=2006-03-21T153702Z_01_L2125805_RTRUKOC_0_US-IRAQ-USA-SENATORS.xml

A delegation of U.S. senators held lengthy and blunt talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Tuesday, telling him Americans were growing impatient over the delay in forming a unity government in Iraq.

Republican Senator John Warner, head of the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee, said he and five fellow senators delivered a clear message from the U.S. public.

"The American people are of good heart ... but do not try in any way to deceive them or let this progress indicate to the world a less than sincere and prompt effort to bring about a new government," Warner told a news briefing afterwards.

"(Otherwise) Americans will speak up and speak up very loudly," he said, adding that he had made this point three times in "forceful and pointed" comments to Jaafari.

2. Translation: "Clean up our mess. Chop chop!!!"
"If Bush's poll numbers go any lower it's going to be on your head."

Oh and this one was rich: "(Otherwise) Americans will speak up and speak up very loudly,"

We've been saying quite loudly for a while now that Bush is a criminal and we want him impeached. Crickets. :eyes:

7. "Senators blame victim"
The headline might as well have been...

"The American people are of good heart...(if you overlook the illegal invasion, the torture, the disappearing, the detentions, the bombings and the death America brought to Iraq)...but do not try in any way to deceive them (that's our job and the job of the Bush Regime)..."

"Otherwise Americans will speak up (and rightly blame the US government, so we're blaming you instead)..."

Poor America, forced to go into Iraq and now held hostage because Iraq just can't seem to get it together. Yes, it's all Iraq's fault. If they had not forced America to invade them, American soldiers wouldn't be there and dying. So, really, it's not because Bush lied or that the majority of Congress went along with those lies - No, it's Iraq's fault.

The nerve of anyone in the US government to blame Iraq for the destruction America caused.
