Japan Puts Off Sending Troops to Iraq
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/ap20031113_1538.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq Nov. 13 — Japan put off a decision Thursday to send troops to Iraq, a day after the biggest attack on coalition forces since the war, and South Korea rebuffed Washington by capping its contribution at 3,000 soldiers.
U.S. troops pounded suspected guerrilla targets in the capital for a second straight night under a new "get-tough" campaign against the insurgency. And the top American administrator, L. Paul Bremer, headed back to Baghdad after two days of White House talks with orders that Iraqis should take more responsibility for governing.
On the eve of a visit to Tokyo by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Japan decided the time isn't right to send its forces to Iraq, indicating its deployment might be delayed until next year.
Japan had hoped to send troops to Iraq to help rebuild the country by the end of 2003, but chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda backed off, saying Iraq is still too unstable

Unstable???? Come now….you must not be listening to the US media….:eyes:

3. Remember when Bush/media SWORE that we had a "Coalition of the Willing"
And that they would have our backs for troops and cash???

Remember when Bush media said that "the UN is irrelevant" and that they were a "tea party" and that a mighty "Coalition of the Willing" would take their place???

Chalk it up as one more (out of hundreds?thousands?)Bush/media LIE.

4. The Japanese
are in a terrible dilemma. On the one hand, they are looking over their shoulder at a huge threat behind them...namely China. They are dependent on the US for military protection. So they want to stick up for Old Bushie.

But the idea of sending troops is very distasteful...not to mention there is practically 0 public support for it.

So they're stuck. What to do? Stall. Pretend like they're committed, and wait. They're rolling the dice right now, and good Ole bush is coming up with snake eyes...
