San Jose congressman wants warning labels on candy (choke warning)
Associated Press

A San Jose congressman is trying again to win passage of a bill requiring warning labels on candy.

Democrat Mike Honda began his campaign for the bill yesterday. The measure was drawn up after two South Bay youngsters choked to death on pieces of a gel candy.

Honda's Food Choking Prevention Act got lost in the congressional debates over the war with Iraq. It now has bipartisan backing and advocacy groups are promising to support it.

The bill is co-sponsored by New Jersey Republican Mike Ferguson. ---
