3. I am happy to see the truth being told
But I am really sad for my country and for the Iraqi people to have to go through this mess. It was all unnecessary.

6. Now that is real freedom of speech!!!!........You go girl!!!
Women can be so brave!!!

I do believe this is majority consent in our armed forces.

They just need to read their military code and see that they
now are fighting for a tyrranny. Now they can choose which step
they "want" to take and it is ethically leagal, So far as I've
heard. Anyone else know about what you can and can't do under a tyrranny?

7. Big, big mistake
When you enlist in the military they own your ass. A soldier speaking out against the CINC is certainly going to be punished, one way or another. She may be brave for speaking out, but she'll have no one to blame but herself for what happens next. It doesn't help matters that she gave this interview while on active duty in Iraq. If they keep her in, she'll probably be knocked down in rank and will lose pay. Otherwise, I'd expect a dishonorable discharge.

It may sound harsh, but everyone who enlists in the military knows that as soon as they sign the contract and give the oath of enlistment, they are signing away many of their rights.

9. Mistake?
If someone feels that it's time to speak out against tyranny and incompetence, how can that be a mistake? Do you imagine that she knows nothing of the possible consequences?

Perhaps people sometimes find reasons to do things that aren't in their immediate self interest. Perhaps the ultimate fate of the world rests on people who do things like that.

Patriotism is not necessarily easy, or without cost.

Flag in the lapel is easy.

14. Actually, the asshole who does the
decision-making will be at fault. Sorry, don't buy into the now-I'm-a-slave-gotta-say-nothin-to-embarass-massa theory. We convicted and hanged German soldiers for following orders and keeping their mouths shut.

Would someone in Chicago please call Channel 5 and tell them they've got the word misspelled?

Sorry, this is one of my pet peeves.

10. This was posted in GD this morn... different facts tho...
http://www.radioink.com/HeadlineEntry.asp?hid=115712&pt=todaysnews

According to the Illinois Leader, a National Guard soldier based in Rockford, IL, who blasted President Bush on a local radio talk show Friday, may face court martial for her public comments.

The husband of Sergeant Jessica Macek, who returned from leave back to Kuwait on Saturday, told WNTA Talk host Chris Bowman that his wife says she may face a court martial for comments she made Friday.

IllinoisLeader.com Rockford correspondent David Hale heard Macek's comments on the Friday morning show. According to Hale, Macek said the President lied about the reasons America military was in Iraq.

But on the air Monday, Bowman argued that Hale's reporting was inaccurate and biased, saying the story was published on an “ultra-conservative” news source.

When asked by the Illinois Leader's Managing Editor what Bowman considered inaccurate in Hale's story, Bowman said, “I don't believe said `liar,’ I think she may have used the words `less than truthful,’ but I don't recall her saying the President was a liar.”

Funny thing "quotes".

,...Court Justice just today stated that it is an individual's duty to disobey unlawful orders, then his supporters should end up protesting anything the military/government may do to this brave lassie,...don't you think?

16. The GAO reports that 94% of Guard/Reservists in pay mix ups or
no pay situations. Some are being billed for $48,000 they didn't
ring up. The chaos in our military since dimwit took over puts our
national security at risk.

God bless her.
