Poll: Reed a drag on GOP ticket (8 point drop for GA Gov. Perdue)
A tough race for Sonny could be even tougher with Reed at his side. Or so sayeth the pollster.

On Monday, pollster Matt Towery raised Republican blood pressure with the news that President Bush's approval ratings in Georgia had dropped significantly.

And that Gov. Sonny Perdue was no longer the shoo-in many thought he would be this November.

On Tuesday, the head of Internet political news service Insider Advantage cut loose another set of worrisome numbers for the state's Republicans: Ralph Reed, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, at this point represents an 8-point drag on a Perdue-Reed ticket.

4. "Drag on the ticket" hehe
Says a spokeswoman for Reed: "Many polls will say many things between now and November. But one thing remains constant: Ralph Reed is a recognized leader Georgians know and trust."

5. and the poll cited is only of republican voters...
with reed 16% of gop voters = more likely to vote for Perdue compared to with reed 24% less likely to vote for Perdue... wonder what the numbers look like if one included ALL likely voters.

6. The thing these Goopers need to remember
(assuming they actually want to win) - thus far, the only people really making hay about Ralphie's corruption are newspaper reporters.

When actual political operatives, doing TV/radio ads and canvassing neighborhoods, tie him to Abe Jackoff, that "Ralph Reed is a recognized leader Georgians know and trust" nonsense will become even crazier to imagine.

I know that to some DUers, GA is some hopeless backwater, but there are millions of relatively new residents from all over the US settling here. As they become more politically active, it'll be impossible to continue to portray Ralphie as some poor, put-upon local boy who's being badmouthed by the liberal media.

(Or so I have to at least hope.)

12. Fascinating quote - to which I'd respond "Yeah, ralphie. WE do, TOO!"
We're learning it from YOU. And we're going to be better at it, AND more successful, as we turn all your tactics AGAINST YOU. And there ARE, truly, MORE OF US than there are of your fundie wacko Krapture-loving xtians. Just look at the "right direction/wrong track" numbers, going back SEVERAL years into this blight of an administration, and that'll tell you how many there are on which side. The numbers in that one haven't been on the bad guys' side for several years now.

9. I always thought
that this would be a tough race. Perdue's win in 2002 was a shock in itself ;)

10. This is one evil man who needs to be booted out of Politics.
He can always become the next Pat Robertson. We really don't need another one, but someone will have to take Pat's place.
