Australian Dollar shoots above 72 US cents | ABC (Australia)

Dollar shoots above 72 US cents

The Australian dollar has broken through the 72 US cent level in New York trade overnight.

It is at its highest level since October 1997, reaching 72.25 US cents.

FYI... Just about two and a half years ago, the A$ was around 50 US cents. This is yet another indication of the plummiting value of the US dollar on Bush's watch...

2. double edged sword for little Johnnie

as it makes exports dearer and imports cheaper, difficult for him to claim credit ( which he will) and not get flack from his traditional supporters..big business , farmers. ( why do farmer support conservatives ?. Big mystery to me)
