Biden says he's seeking Democratic nomination

Project Seahawk is crucial to ensure safe ports, not just in Charleston but across the U.S. coast, but it's not nearly enough.

So said Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., who spoke about the Charleston Harbor Operation Center (known as Project Seahawk), port security, the war in Iraq, and his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination during a visit to Charleston on Wednesday.

...

"I'm looking for the nomination," he said. "I think South Carolina will determine the next (Democratic) candidate."

Winning here depends on "understanding the complexities" of states with a diverse racial and economic makeup, he said.

or he did have I remember him grilling someone about it. It's been awhile since this happened so I don't quite remember all the details.

Not that I'm a fan of Biden.

I do not care for his politics! Ever since the 80's, every-time I saw Biden, he exposed himself to being against my pursuit of liberty.

81. Duly Noted!
I guess these chicken-hawk warmongers just like to get their war on, since they have never experienced the danger of what a war-zone is like. I've never experienced war either, but I sure wouldn't put other peoples lives in harms way. I don't need the experience, I understand the consequences of what war can do to people.

I hear the military/pentagon hands out incredible bonuses to our representatives in congress. I wouldn't be surprised if Biden got some of that extra dough.

3. Who cares?
Biden is just another DINO who will bite out badly in the primaries, just like Joementum. I mean, it ain't like his previous Presidential Campaigns went well...

God help us if SC determines the next candidate- that place has more fundies than most and was the place that handed W the nomination in 2000. I suppose Biden thinks of himself as another W. Maybe he will have operatives calling SC voters and telling them about Gore's secret black love child....

more intelligence and better diction. He shouldn't be a Senator let alone Prez.

Step down now and let a progressive take your place Mr. B.

7. If he wants to run, fine. He will add a certain perspective to the debate
That said, I don't think he has a chance in hell of winning. They'll drag up the LAST TIME he ran, before he got those pathetic hair plugs, and focus on how he lifted, damn near word-for-word, a speech by Neil Kinnock. This was before them there internets, and it took a while before people realized that he friken PLAGERIZED the entire speech.

Hey, if I remember the event, others will, too.

But that said, he'll add a level of interest to the debates. He's dead serious about doing this, too. He has been planning it for a while. He knows it's now or never....and at the end of the day, it will be never.

where on one turn, I learned that he didn't go to Princeton because he was Irish Catholic and they were discriminated against. His kids looked there but chose to go to college in Pennsylvania.......

More of the important constitutional balance of powers issues were raised by, non-Judiciary committee member, John Kerry in his speech on the day of the cloture vote than were raised as quaetions by Biden. (Feingold did ask questions relating to these concerns).

A month of Joe's stories will kill his chances.

32. I've been fed up with him longer than that
I remember when he torpedoed Anita Hill's testimony because it was getting in the way of his camera time (after all, wasn't the point of the hearing to show how clever he was?).

Or, when he talked tough about the need for the Geneva Conventions, then kissed Alberto Gonzalez's butt.

Somewhere along the way, I started thinking of him as not dissimilar to a fictional Senator, and
started thinking of him as "Joe-jo Biden". As I have posted before:

"Meesa likes you, Missah Gonzalez. Yousa realdeal."

12. the Biden that "loves" Gonzales?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A54607-2005Jan6?language=printer

"We're looking for you, when we ask you questions, to give us an answer, which you haven't done yet," Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.) told Gonzales. "I love you, but you're not very candid so far."

Gonzales said "it is appropriate to revisit" the Geneva Conventions, which provide an international standard of conduct for handling detainees during military conflicts. Gonzales disclosed that White House officials, including some lawyers, had held "some very preliminary discussion" about the idea, but he said "it's not been a systematic project or effort."

Gonzales did not say what revisions are under consideration, but he said they would not affect provisions requiring "basic, decent treatment of human beings."

An August report by a panel of experts appointed by the Defense Department endorsed the idea of adapting the 1949 conventions "to the realities of the nature of conflict in the 21st century." It particularly urged the creation of a legal category for detainees from terrorist groups, who presumably would not be afforded the same protections as other detainees. The International Committee of the Red Cross immediately condemned the idea of changing the Geneva Conventions.

16. if he gets in, it's like replacing one industry shill with another...
instead of a moron* with special interests in oil, we would replace him* with another boob that has special interests in credit card corps...

Yeah, that would help us a lot. let's look into the future, shall we...

Reporter: several months after prez biden took office, people are still without heating fuel because of peek oil and no alternatives are in site, however it was reported today, that MBNA has opened it's own debtors prison. MBNA was a major sponsor of bidens election. In other news, the city of light is no more...

So that's it folks, first they fuck us with morons* "energy" policy by rising prices and putting the vast majority of the pop deeper into debt, then biden will fuck us with his "economy" policy that will be molded around credit card debt.

First they freeze you out, then they squeeze you out. sort of like frozen pudding.

biden is nothing more than an opportunist, however, if he gets the nod, he will become pure evil. If you recall he was the one that helped the new bankruptcy bill pass. Lovely fellow.

Season --- again. The only candidate to benefit from this will be Hillary with her money and committed core (not me) to win a bare plurality contest to contest with the "Not Hilary" candidates splitting up the rest.

Not good -- plus as I have said MANY times before -- Biden is a jerk.

My two favorites at this point are Clark and Edwards.

27. A smoothie warmonger, in the pocket of the military-industrial complex.
He's positioning himself to get the nod from Howard Ahmanson (Diebold/ES&S), in case Hillary doesn't fly.

The fascist junta needs a War Democrat in the White House--on whom they can begin blaming Bush's financial and foreign policy disasters, and from whom they can get a military Draft (Bush can't do it--not with his numbers). They also want a Dem in office when various shits start hitting various fans (economic meltdown, veterans' protests, food riots, old grannies in wheelchairs protesting the disappearance of their Social Security checks, etc.). Might be prep for the real Hitler in '12.

You can forget the majority getting to choose the Dem candidate in the '08 primaries. He/she will have been 'chosen' for you by then. Diebold/ES&S not only controls general elections; they also control primary elections--with "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, and virtually no audit/recount controls. Election system brought to you by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney.

And, in case you don't know who Howard Ahmanson is, what kinds of causes he supports, what kind of resources he has to support them with, and what his connection is to Diebold/ES&S, I suggest that you Google him, and learn WHO is behind the completion of the Bush coup in 2004.

and he's not been right since.

It's sad, really. He's a bright guy, but now he's just a bit pathetic, if not downright puzzling.

63. I don't trust him
He appears to be just another slimy politician to me. His opinion changes with the popularity of what's going on.

We need a standout.

We need a rebel.

We need someone who isn't afraid to be himself and not beholding to special interest.

64. The person you describe would end up being labelled as "unelectable" as
they start the meme of "electable" about some DINO / DC-insider type. There are very few that meet your last criteria, "someone who isn't afraid to be himself and not beholding to special interest".

Don't get me wrong, I agree with what you're calling for, but it just ain't gonna happen in today's America. TPTB made sure they covered that sort of thing from happening since Carter took them by surprise and won the nomination and then the presidency in the '70s.

71. yes, and i'm seeking to win the lottery
i think our chances are about the same.

now transplant joe can legitimately go on all the talk shows and talk about himself, instead of taking up precious time during senate investigations, talking about himself.

no one has told joe that "the old school" is so... old! dated. past. done with. (at least we can hope, can't we?)

joe can blow. and i mean that in a BAD sense. :-)

Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 12:31 PM by CLW
the Repugs have hijacked the Constitution, consider your congressional colleagues' utter impotence, and even begin to think you could somehow get us out of this mess is laughable. As Democratic candidates begin to materialize both in your home state and nationally, quietly ask the 37 people who still support you to vote for those who can actually make a difference.

Edited for spelling.
