Minsk cops stop election protest
Gosh, we have so much in common with the repressive regimes. This could be in New York

MINSK -- Police stormed the opposition tent camp in the Belarusian capital yesterday and rounded up hundreds of demonstrators who spent a fourth night protesting President Alexander Lukashenko's victory in a disputed election.

A Canadian freelance journalist was among those in custody.

The arrests came after six large police trucks and about 100 helmeted riot police with clubs pulled up to October Square in central Minsk about 3 a.m.

The police milled about for a few minutes before plowing into the camp.

Needless to say, US condemned action.
