U.S. Has No Quick Exit Strategy for Iraq
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031114/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq&cid=540&ncid=716

WASHINGTON - U.S. occupiers may begin transferring power back to the Iraqi people at any time, but the speeded-up change in authority doesn't mean American troops will leave the country any sooner, Bush administration officials say.

Condoleezza Rice, said Thursday it was necessary to give Iraqis control more quickly because "they are clamoring for it; they are, we believe, ready for it."

With the U.S. death toll in Iraq approaching 400 and some polls showing increasing criticism of Bush's handling of post-war Iraq, the administration's aim is to accelerate steps toward an Iraqi takeover and an end to the U.S. occupation.

1. Lordly lordly
Ok here is some speculation on what is now coming out

And no do not take the champagne out YET

here are somethings I will posit now as possible

1.- NO DRAFT... they are quietly pulling away from it, but that means they cannot accomplish the mission

2.- CUT AND RUN with Iraqization of the contry... and just like Vietnamization this will fail too. (Yes the next goverment of Iraq will be religious, Shia and will hate America and Israel, and will probably destablize the region even further)

3.- If I am reading the tea leaves correctly, the policy HAS FAILED, kiss Empire good bye, and we are no longer a super power. (Hey this has some good things attached as we can insist on certain things as this finally dawns on people... including a more progressive agenda)

Now if I am reading the tea leaves correctly, we can blame (remember that national security voter out there) this firmly on the GOP. Just do not take the champagne out yet, this is not over yet... by a long haul and this is the way them tea leaves read this week... God I never thought I woudl be playing read the US Government like we used to play the game with the Ruskies...

Oh and for the simple minded at certain boards

"The Republicans have weakened the US in the world, it is that simple folks..."

(I expect a bunch of Dittos one of these days... hey it is easy to simplify things to the point of being ridicolous, a left wing host should try at any radio station)
