Coalition staff to stay "locked" in Basra HQ for security reasons

BASRA, Iraq (AFP) - Coalition civilian staff in Iraq's southern city of Basra will be confined to their headquarters for the next 36 hours for security reasons following a deadly attack on an Italian base in the area, a coalition spokesman said.

"We have a lock-down until tomorrow evening in the wake of the Nasiriyah attack, and less so because of the Basra blasts," said Dominic D'Angelo, spokesman for the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA)-Southeast.

D'Angelo said the lock-down meant that CPA non-military staff would stay in their headquarters, a former palace of ousted president Saddam Hussein, and that daytime employees would not be allowed in.

"This lockdown will be reviewed on Friday evening," he said.

6. A 3rd force awaits US in Iraq-from 030103
This correspondent was in Jordan, for example,
when the Islamic Action Front declared a jihad
in favor of Iraq and Palestine if the US attacks Iraq.
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/EC01Ak04.html

From 111203-This has happened, in the form of the Hizbul
Islami al-Iraqi (Islamic Party of Iraq), which
sprouted in Mosul in the north and spread rapidly.
Under Saddam, all literature of the Muslim
Brotherhood was banned, even for reference
purposes.

As the Pentagon learned in Vietnam, body
counts
are essentially meaningless when the
number
comprising the enemy force cannot be
ascertained.

Sanchez has to know that roughing up more
of the civilian population in the Sunni triangle
is not only going to fail, but plays entirely into
the hands of the Iraqi freedom fighters. The
American army is going to be the main recruiting
office for the resistance. If Sanchez knows this,
why is he helping the freedom fighters?

9. If They're Locked Up, How Are The Iraqi's Going to give them flowers?
and aren't they going to miss the saddam statues being blown up or torn down, etc.? they're going to miss all the anti-hussein parades, which means no candy for the troops.

AWOL's ego is too big to admit he f*cked up "big time".
