Drone aircraft may prowl U.S. skies

"Unmanned aerial vehicles have soared the skies of Afghanistan and Iraq for years, spotting enemy encampments, protecting military bases, and even launching missile attacks against suspected terrorists.

Now UAVs may be landing in the United States.

A House of Representatives panel on Wednesday heard testimony from police agencies that envision using UAVs for everything from border security to domestic surveillance high above American cities. Private companies also hope to use UAVs for tasks such as aerial photography and pipeline monitoring."

The Department of Homeland Security is reporting that an attempted suicide bombing in Manhattan has been prevented by a UAV patrolling the skies over New York. UAV controllers in Colorado had pinpointed and followed the terrorist as he drove to an undisclosed target location. Before being able to detonate his carbomb, security officers made the decision to fire a Stinger missile at the terrorist. The carbomb was completely destroyed, some 20 people in the vicinity died as a result of the carbomb explosion. Sec. of Homeland Security has commended his men on a timely response; the officer in charge will be awarded a National Medal of Defense by Pres. Jeb Bush, next week.

In a related story; Sen Russ Feingold was apparently one of the victims of the suicide bomber in Manhattan last week. The senator was under way to the UN to file documents relating to war crimes prosecution of former president G.W. Bush. The US government has warned of serious consequences to any such prosecution.


(So just like in Israel, you can be shot dead from the sky and you won't even know what hit you...America, the rest of the world mourns your passing.)

that would be a practical use for the technology. Otherwise, they're just going to use them to spy on citizens.

a few months ago (around the same time as the Pakistani village was blown up and in a separate story a DoJ official hinted that the President could order the extrajudicial killing of American citizens if they were "suspected terrorists",as part of his "war powers").
