04/06/06 FOX Poll: Views on Illegal Immigration, Bush Job Rating Down
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190857,00.html

Although a clear majority of Americans believe illegal immigration is a very serious problem for the country, many think it is somebody else's problem — as fewer than one in four say it is a very serious problem for their community, according to the latest FOX News Poll. Seven in 10 people say they favor allowing illegals that have jobs to apply for temporary-worker status, but eight in 10 think it is unfair to grant rights to illegal immigrants while so many others wait to come to the United States legally.

In addition, the new poll finds that the president's job approval rating has slipped a couple of points and currently matches an earlier low recorded back in November. Today, 36 percent of Americans say they approve of the job George W. Bush is doing as president and 53 percent disapprove.

Approval among Republicans has dropped from consistently being above 80 percent to 74 percent approval today. And approval among Democrats is in the single digits, as fewer than one in 10 approve (8 percent).

1. Translation: the real approval rating is probably like 31%
When Fox says it's at 36%, then you know it's really lower. Wait until some of the real polls start coming out.

2. Good news for Lamont
Only democrats can vote in the primary and I think that it's now too late for Republicans to switch--although I think that unaffiliated can switch up to one month before the primary.

10. Right. It's easy enough to tell a pollster you're a Dem. I comes natural
... to people who live on political lies, as a neoconservative today must do, to lie to interviewers and create public disinformation to serve their purposes. In 2002, it was possible for a rank-n-file neocon to be deceived by his leaders. Today, we can only say that he's being deceived by himself. Eventually the evidence against Bush becomes thicker than their skulls. After that point, you have no one to blame but the mirror.

15. there is no such thing as a rank and file neocon.
only the people in control are really neocons, the rest just think they are and support the neocon agenda.

17. to-mah-to
Ideology is a designation by choice. How they hell can you "only believe" you're a neocon if you really do hold those beliefs and support the agenda?

It's like saying, "You're not a communist; you only support that cause" or
"You're not a Christian; you only go to church and believe in salvation thru Jesus" or
"You're not a pacifist; you only oppose war and believe in nonviolence."

16. 3 in 4 Republicans still approve of *?
That has got to be high, I hear more and more reports of Republicans turning on Bush, not the entire party yet but just Bush.
