Bush warns of budget veto if needed

WASHINGTON, April 7 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush warned the U.S. Congress on Friday that he will enforce spending restraint in the budget through the veto if needed.

Bush also hailed a Labor Department report that the U.S. economy added 211,000 jobs in March, calling it evidence of an overall economic resurgence.

Amid protracted negotiations in Congress over the amount of spending in an election year, Bush urged Congress to restrain spending in order to stay on track to cut the deficit in half by 2009.

"If necessary I will enforce spending restraint through the exercise of the veto," Bush said.

2. Well, what can "The People" threaten?
Is there absolutely nothing we can do? If nothing else, we need to begin having regular and massive protests. A weekly or monthly "million man/woman" demonstration in Washington? This could focus on the latest issue we need to stop or change the course of government on.

Would this be too much? What price freedom?

5. Shrub accusing ANYONE to "restrain spending" IS laughable, indeed!
Only time he complains of budgetary "over-spending" is when it's NOT a buget "item" serving "his base."

And WHO pays the taxes "HIS base" makes plans to spend? Certainly NOT "his base," but we-the-people.

Veto? Please!
