Wyden says Congress must vote on Iraq

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden called on Congress Friday to vote on President Bush's plan to keep American troops in Iraq for at least three more years.

Wyden is a Democrat who voted against the war in 2002. He said that when the war started, few Americans thought that U.S. troops would be in Iraq in 2006, let alone 2009 or later.

Wyden said the vote he proposes would hold President Bush accountable for presenting a realistic war plan and budget.

And, he says, it would hold Congress accountable by making it act like a co-equal branch of government, as the Constitution requires.

1. NOW they're going to vote on the war?
Fucking brilliant. :eyes:

I'm glad to see the action, but damn. Couldn't we have done this, oh, say, before we went over there in the first place? </cynic>

3. if they do this, look for congress to include language referring...
...to Irag's stockpile of WMD, connections to al-Qaeda and 9/11, etc. I mean, we've already seen this. It's called the IWR.

5. Wyden is my Senator and I have watched his voting record closely.
I think he has almost reached DINOhood. He seems to be attracted to the money issues. I saw this on MSM tonight and decided I cannot vote for him again. If this is liberal leftwing , count me out. Wyden likes the moneied boys, or so it seems to me.
