Airstrike in Pakistan kills top al-Qaida militant
A high-ranking member of the al-Qaida terrorist network was killed in an airstrike on a remote village in western Pakistan, U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News on Thursday.

Mohsin Musa Matawalli Atwah was among as many as 14 suspected militants who were killed in the attack in the North Waziristan tribal region village of Anghar Kalai, near the Afghan border, the officials told NBC News.

Pakistani intelligence officials said an army helicopter gunship struck the village, but local villagers, speaking to NBC News, claimed a Predator drone firing a Hellfire missile was responsible for the attack.

The Egyptian-born Atwah was one of al-Qaida’s top bombmakers, intelligence officials said. The United States had offered a $5 million reward for the capture of Atwah, who has been accused of training the bombers who attacked U.S. embassies in Tanzanian and Kenya on Aug. 7, 1998.

2. no doubt
AQ does seem to have a surprisingly large numbr of 'leaders' and 'key figures' - probably wise actually what with so many of them being killed!

3. So did they include the two children in the 14 militants, or was it
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 10:58 AM by NCevilDUer
14 militants plus two children?

Were the childrens' mothers militants?

Why is it that I am unwilling to believe ANYTHING coming out of Afghanistan/Iraq/Pakistan?

4. Why is it that the US says one thing and the witnesses...
say another. Was it a helicopter or drone? Does the US not want to admit they are sending drones over Pakistan and other countries?

8. My Take
Good. No perfect! A fitting end to a bombmaker thug who intentionally helped kill scores of innocents.

Splat.

To hell with him. Send him to his maker.

Are you just as happy about his death this time as you were the dozens of other times the military pulled this story out of its hat?

25. The same end that Bush deserves!
It would be a fitting end to a warmongering thug who intentionally helped kill over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians, hundreds of innocent Afghan civilians, and nearly 3,000 US troops on a criminal war of aggression.

"At least two children were among those killed in the raid, Pakistani security officials told The Associated Press. The bodies of the militants were buried quickly, the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said."

28. Come one, this is the same BS they pulled last time with al-Zawahri.
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 07:14 PM by pinniped
The bodies of the militants were buried quickly, the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.

They know the names of the people who were allegedly killed but they have no proof those people were actually killed.

This is nothing but recycled BS with different characters and it conveniently comes at a time the POS* wh jerks are taking a lot of heat.

Who the hell gets the $5,000,000.00 reward?

I know, no one.
