Rumsfeld resignation row simmers (BBC) {Clark adds his voice}
Another two US generals have weighed into the row over whether Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld should quit.

Ex-Nato commander Gen Wesley Clark, who ran for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2004, backed calls for Mr Rumsfeld to resign.
***
Gen Clark said in a television interview: "I believe secretary Rumsfeld hasn't done an adequate job. He should go."
***
Gen Clark said the secretary had lost the confidence of some officers in the military who were asking for "somebody in the military chain of command who will listen".

1. That's good.
But pretty much what he's been saying all along.

Glad to have another voice in the choir, of course.

3. I'm sure they are discussing
this very fact, today. These guys are not out on an Easter Egg hunt.

They are trying to decide what to do with Rumsfailed. Stay? Or go? Rumsfailed is fighting for his political life.

There is no good choice. Either one will be a bad one.

7. Rummie, Bush and Cheney
are hanging on for dear life.

If one falls, the other two will soon follow.

4. J Edgar
I remember once reading of a similar situation with LBJ an J Edgar. When pushed to the limit, LBJ appointed Hoover director for life. The greater the push, the harder for Bush to dump him and not look like a lame duck.

5. Clark was amongst the first generals to call for Rumsfeld's resignation.

Years ago. Rummy is making this politically untenable for the feeble bush junior. Let's see if the new Chief of Staff is up to the job() and collects & accepts Rummy's letter of resignation to signal the selected Commander in Chief is paying attention. When * publicly loses the military he is setting a new presidential historical low point.

6. September 2003
Clark said in New Hampshire his first act as President of the United States would be to fire Donald Rumsfeld.

8. I love it when these generals speak out and say
rumsfeld must go, another worthless man who thinks he is above the law, and promotes torture.

10. I remember something different.
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 02:10 AM by 1932
Clark is very kind to Rumsfeld in his second book, and I vaguely remember that the last time the idea of firing Rumsfeld was getting media attention, Clark said the problem isn't Rumsfeld but Bush. He also said that it would be patriotic (or something like that) if Rumsfeld chose to resign, which is an ambiguous comment (and is actually kind of flattering of Rumsfeld). What Clark didn't say last time was that Bush should fire Rumsfeld. I think Clark worked with Rumsfeld in a previous administration and they have some sort of relationship, but I might be misremembering that.

12. Any sort of links to back ANY of that up?
I've read Clark's books, and anything that came across as even mildly flattering of Rumsfeld would have earned Mr Clark my IMMEDIATE disdain...and so far he is still looking like the people's champion I've known him to be.

If you have ANY facts to back up any of the innuendo in your post, please post them. Otherwise, the post above does nothing but propagate right-wing talking points.
