Biden Urges Bush to Back Bill to Eliminate Gas Price Gouging

WASHINGTON (AP)- Senator Joe Biden is urging President Bush to back a Senate bill designed to eliminate gasoline price-gouging.

Biden and 15 fellow Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, have sent a letter to the President calling on him to support the bill. It would give states new powers to prosecute anyone who takes advantage of short supplies of gas to overcharge for it.

In the letter, Biden and his colleagues said the Bush administration has not responded to their invitation to join a bipartisan national energy summit.

The lawmakers called on the President to back the bill before Memorial Day weekend, the traditional beginning of the summer driving season.

2. Why aren't they going after the real problem?
The real problem isn't the distributors or gas station owners, it's the freaking OIL COMPANIES! :banghead: They're the ones fleecing America for chrisake! :grr: This amounts to nothing more than posturing on the Democrats' part, why don't they get to the REAL problem? Because there's too many of them in the oil companies' pockets too.

3. Thanks, you just gave me my big laugh of the day...

If Bush won't even consider raising the MPG on vehicles (that would save millions a barrels of oil a day)...Why would Bush, who wants Americans to use more and waste more high priced gas for oil company profits, want to invade on those profits...

Why would Biden even for a moment, think Bush would ever consider even in a million years, that Bush would get behind oil company "price gouging" accusations? Bush and his friends would have too much to lose...Bush will just say there is no price gouging, that the market dictates the price. (But the oil companies dictate the flow for maximum profits, BushCo won't tell you that though).

What is wrong with Joe Biden, is he running for president or something?

9. Oh PULEESE! Gonna prosecute ALL of the oil companies?
The are all following the same march in prices, right down to the tenth of a cent. Just boycott Exxon-Mobil and watch prices go down.
