Russia's defense minister confirmed Monday that his country will go ahead and supply Iran with sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles, news agencies reported.

And Nikolai Spassky, the deputy head of the Kremlin Security Council, said Russia would not end military cooperation with Iran, including the commitment to provide the country with Tor-M1 air-defense systems.

Russia's Defense Ministry has said Moscow will supply 29 sophisticated Tor-M1 air defense missile systems to Iran under a $700 million (€565 million) contract, according to Russian media reports.

Ivanov also defended the Bushehr project, saying it "has nothing to do with the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," reports Jerusalem Post.

5. Putin has been, yes. I get the same notion.
I remember all the hooey from Dubya about "looking into my pal Vlad's soul..." and so forth.

Putin must have asked his translators not to tell him right away what Dubya said so he could erupt in laughter in private later.

Meanwhile, this Iran attack isn't looking very well supported, is it?

24. Right - he decided to invade Iraq without proof of WMD's or UN approval
.
.
.

and also set the stage for the demise of the USA as a respected World nation

Our softwood lumber trade is still reeling from the tariffs and non-payment of settlements despite numerous decisions in our favor from the WTO and the courts.

We'd be wise to make arrangements with other countries and turn our backs on the USA market - not just lumber, our oil/gas products as well as others.

Harper is on our "throne" now - and I suspect he will sign us into agreements that we may long regret - despite his soon to be "past" reign Stevie-baby can leave us with long term obligations.

And if we cut off our oil and gas supply to the USA

I'm sure that the USA's PNACers would consider that an act of war, or sumthing like that

and we'd be the recipient of that pre-emptive thingy

(sigh)

10. Russia launches Israeli spy satellite
http://english.pravda.ru/news/russia/25-04-2006/79522-israel-0

Russia on Tuesday launched a spy satellite for Israel that the Israelis say will be used to spy on Iran's nuclear program, as Iran's leader persisted with his calls for the Jewish state's destruction.

A Russian official said the satellite reached orbit, but experts said it would be some time before it could be determined if the satellite was operational.

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, meanwhile, said Iran has already funneled $10 million (Ђ8 million) to Palestinian militant groups since the start of the year, according to a newspaper report Tuesday

The satellite won't be functional for like 7-10 days but then its photoshop for Israel.......

14. It's weaponry by the way
They've had a few years to improve things, besides the Iranians aren't the only ones buying the TOR system, the Greeks and the Chinese are making purchases also.

23. What exactly did they lose?
If you mean the cold war, weaponry wasn't decisive (besides, Russia is still there, they just changed government).
If you mean Afghanistan, the west isn't exactly doing all that well there either.
If you mean WWII, they won.

He gets the weapons sales $$ from Iran now.

If the U.S. starts bombing, guess what the FIRST natural targets are to protect bombers and cruise missiles?... Iran's Air Defense systems!

Sooo after Bush & Co. orders the military to shred Iran's defenses and bomb those "suspected nuke facilities", who is Iran gonna go to after being bombed for replacement Air Defense systems?? Putin!!

Putin is sellin missile (and smart bomb) bait.

Besides, this attack is coming from Israel anyway.
