Saudi releases 500 al-Qaida sympathizers
Saudi Arabia released 500 al-Qaida sympathizers after they underwent religious counseling to bring them back to the moderate path of Islam.

Interior ministry sources said the release came after months of counseling by elite Saudi religious leaders to convince them to abandon extremist ideas.

Saudi Arabia has been conducting a nationwide security campaign to crack down on al-Qaida extremists since it was first rocked by terrorist bombings in May 2003.

11. Can you just see this?
At the head of the class, you see a Saudi wah-habist religious teacher. He's looking at his students: about 30 sulking Al Qaidas sitting at their cramped desks. They're disgruntled, looking out the window at the birds flying by.

The teacher holds out his hand, pointing at the class. "Now remember, be nice". "Forget about that guy Bin Ladin. He's just a rogue."

The 30-year olds squeezed into their tight seats mumble something conciliatory. The teacher glows with pride....

"See? I told you they'd see the light"
