Iran's nuclear program "threatens existence of Israel": Mossad chief
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1504&ncid=1504&e=20&u=/afp/20031117/ts_afp/mideast_israel_iran_031117163054

JERUSALEM (AFP) - Iran's nuclear program poses the biggest threat to Israel's existence since the country's creation more than five decades ago, the chief of the Mossad overseas intelligence agency warned MPs.

In a rare appearance before the Knesset's foreign affairs and defence committee, Meir Dagan said Iran was now close to the "point of no return" in developing nuclear arms.

The program was "the biggest threat to Israel's existence since its creation" in 1948, he was quoted as saying.

The warning comes just three days before the United Nation's nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is to decide whether to haul the Islamic republic before the UN Security Council for hiding sensitive aspects of its nuclear programme.

3. I sincerely hope that Iran scored nukes from Pakistan
or the USSR. I also hope that Syria has nukes.
These countries must put Israel and Bush back into place.
Americans are just too stupid to do the job.

9. It is Israel's nuclear weapons that threaten the world

This nation destabilized the region and the world strategically speaking when it became a nuclear power. Remember that during the 1973 war, the world was on the brink of nuclear war.

If Russian technicians are killed in any Israeli attack on Iran, there could be a military response that will set the stage for a much larger conflict. Putin has already stated that there would be a military response if Russian interests abroad were attacked. This was his response after the "attack Iran" balloon was originally floated in the press by Israel. The original plan for the Iranian attack was diverted to an attack on Syria after Putin's warning.

These attacks are needed periodically for domestic reasons in Israel, just as they are now in our country. The Russian response may not be violent (it could be) but more likely will involve the movement of military units into or near Iran or the reaffirmation of Russian military commitment to Iranian integrity. A set piece response similar to reactions that led ultimately to WWI. Frankly the Russians should have already moved military units in response to Israeli threats to Iran to increase regional stability but they probably can't afford it. A re-affirmation of commitments or the hollow recitation of further threats without significant military movements will only encourage the neo-cons to devour the middle east.

The naturally evolving political and economic development of Iraq and Iran was bound to threaten Israeli predominance in the area with or without nuclear development. In a sense, the relative diminution of Israeli power is inevitable and misguided American and Israeli policies seek to create a middle east as they would like it to be rather than it really is by forcibly interfering with developments in the region. Accordingly, they have created a deadly tinderbox rather than increasing "security."

Remember that any Israeli attack on Iran will involve American military cooperation and support.
