GOP Faces Decisions on Overtime Pay

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Top congressional Republicans trying to fashion a huge end-of-session spending bill face decisions on overtime pay and other issues that have prompted Bush administration veto threats.

GOP leaders in the House and Senate planned to meet Tuesday to make some of those decisions. On Monday, some Republicans signaled to the White House that despite the threats, they would charge ahead and include language blocking an administration proposal to let media companies own more television stations.

``As far as we're concerned, it's closed,'' said Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Ted Stevens, R-Alaska.

``It's in,'' said a top House GOP aide who spoke on condition of anonymity. ``The White House can't count. They don't have the votes'' to take it out of the bill.

3. Take away Overtime and you lose the Nascar Dad vote
because its Overtime that pays for the little luxuries.....

As much as I feel sorry for innocent people who will be affected if the GOP takes away Overtime they will show themselves as the evil bastards they are.

4. The extreme right
"leadership" in Congress knows the public backlash would be enormous if they don't pass these items. It looks like an orchestrated event to make them look like they are doing things FOR the People rather than stopping horrid ideas pushed by the regime. It will appear to be a slap in the face to our regime however, but these were things they had been pushing for before the outrage began.
