Poll: View of Bush Performance Fading

snip> WASHINGTON - The public's view of President Bush (news - web sites)'s job performance has dropped in a number of areas, although he remains personally popular, according to a poll out Monday.

Bush's overall job approval was at 50 percent in the CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll, with 47 percent disapproving of his job performance. His approval has ranged from 50 percent to the mid 50s, depending on the poll. An ABC News-Washington Post poll released Monday placed his job approval at 57 percent with 39 percent disapproving.

When asked if they approve of him personally, two-thirds said they approve, about the same level of popularity he had early in his term.

they may like him personally, (gag) but they will not vote for him again, I hope!

we had a "terra-lert" earlier this month with the cargo planes,
Saddam tape surfaced this weekend...

neither of these did much for scaring the polls...soooo next is a Bin-Laden tape or an even bigger terra-lert... can you say ORANGE ALERT by Thanksgiving?

"Eight in 10 said they would be angry or upset if Congress should adjourn this year without passing a prescription drug plan for older Americans. Of those people who would be upset, they said they would blame Republicans by a 2-1 margin. "

5. Notice the positive spin for Bush

"His approval ranges from 50 percent to the mid-50s depending on the poll." Um, no, all the polls taken in November, with the exception of the ABC poll which Josh Marshall says has to be considered an aberration, have Bush from 48 to 52 percent. Why are they lying about his numbers?

7. The ABC/Washington Post Poll is the Whore Poll of the Week
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 11:51 AM by Beetwasher
It's like every polling cycle they corrupt one organization to have some outlandish, contradictory polling information.

I'm mean yeesh! Every poll has him going down to low 50's/High 40's but the ABC poll has him bumping up 1 pt. to 57%! ABC is a good 6-10 pt's HIGHER than every single other poll including Gallup! WTF are they doing over there?

8. I don't know what their problem is. I think they used to be reputable
Here's what Josh Marshall says:
"The new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows President Bush with a substantially higher approval rating than all the recent polls - namely, at 57% approval and 39% disapproval. That contrasts with the slightly more recent Gallup/CNN/USAToday poll which showed him at 50% approve and 47% disapprove.
Last week CBS had him at 49% and NBC had him at 51%.
For the moment the new WaPo/ABC poll definitely looks like an outlier."

9. Au Contraire, Beetwasher
Don't you think that, in every cycle, one media organization takes its turn at Whoring For bu$h? This time it was ABC's turn.

If we were to look back six months, we should be able to predict which network/newspaper alliance will have Chimpy pumped up during the next cycle.

Cynically Yours,

11. ABC/WP is almost always sycophantic.
PollKatz ranks the pollsters' biases here - http://www.pollkatz.homestead.com/files/bushindexprobushtable.htm

FOX 9.345
ABC-POST 7.197
PEW 6.035
GALLUP 4.981
NEWSWEEK 4.393
CBS-NYT 2.097
NBC-WSJ 1.173
CNN-TIME 0.975
IPSOS-REID 0.000
HARRIS (0.131)
IBD-CSM (2.032)
ARG (4.188)
ZOGBY (8.889)

Fox, ABC, and Pew are clearly driven by reichbot spin.
