Turkey won't allow US to use its bases

Turkey does not intend to allow the United States to launch an attack against Iran from the Inchirlik military base, Turkish news agencies reported Sunday.

Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul told the Dubai-based al-Bayan that he doubted the US would ultimately choose to take military action, as "Iran has its own strategic advantages."

Gul said that facilitating an attack against a neighboring country was "not an option," despite the US offer to build Turkey a nuclear reactor as a counterbalance to Iran's expanding nuclear facilities.

Turkey has long sought to develop nuclear power to make up for a limited supply of domestic energy and to reduce dependence on energy supplies from Iran and Russia and has chosen the coastal city of Sinop as the site of the country's first nuclear power plant.
However, only Saturday, thousands rallied in Sinop to protest the planned nuclear facility.
Calls for Turkey to develop alternative energy sources were widespread during the past winter, when unexplained cuts in the supply of natural gas from Iran forced many companies to lower or entirely stop production.
Turkey first announced plans to build a reactor in 1996, but the project has repeatedly been put on hold due to financial problems.
Turkey's refusal to comply with the US request was another indication of the growing tension between the two nations, which, according to Gul, have not "seen a single day of positive stability since the Islamic party was elected to power ."

My take:
Bush tried to bribe Turkey with nuclear know-how, in order to use Turkish land as part of its launching point to attack Iran (along with Iraq). I believe the U.S. will use nuclear weapons on Iran.

3. Turkey shares a border, and a "Kurdish problem" with Iran
But there could be TWO THINGS at play here. And it is important to not "misunderestimate" the craven duplicity of BUSHCO. Just because Turkey SAYS this, does not mean they will DO this.

On a number of occasions in our past history, allied nations have averred that they were not letting something happen when it was actually happening. Things like not allowing overflights, or using bases to launch attacks or coordinate events, that kind of thing.

Ya know that fancy operations center in QATAR that we ran the war from, supposedly? It was designed to replace a similar facility in Saudi Arabia. If I made a bet that that the supposedly stood-down SA facility got a LOT of use during the start up of this latest Middle Eastern misadventure, I'd win it.....

Truthiness, it's what's for dinner!

6. To back up what you are saying
I remember about a month ago there were reports of Germany and France secretly lending logistical support to the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

4. Let me see if I have this straight.
Bush offered nuclear power to an Islamic country in a trade to let us use its territory as a base from which to invade/bomb another Islamic country in order to stop their nuclear program.

As usual, I don't fuckin' get it. :wtf: Somebody get me a scorecard.

5. Well, I guess Iran and Turkey have the Kurds as a common enemy.
If the reports of Iran shelling Kurdish positions, that we have seen today, have any veracity at all.
