White House backs Cheney on Russia

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Friday backed Vice President Dick Cheney's tough speech on Russia and said Russian President Vladimir Putin should move on democratic reforms before hosting a major international summit in July.

Cheney had said in a speech in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius on Thursday that opponents of democratic reform in Russia "are seeking to reverse the gains of the last decade."

The Kremlin rejected his remarks, calling them completely incomprehensible, but White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Cheney was stating existing U.S. policy.

"I think that the comments were consistent with what we've said previously," McClellan said. He added that Bush and Putin have a good personal relationship in which they are able to talk candidly about issues of concern.

3. Okay, DeadEye--
what's with sending DeadEye to deliver a "diplomatic" message? He's the epitome of hypocrisy: it's okay for us to play politics--yes, start wars, threaten to nuke countries--over oil but not for others to try that kind of funny business? Shut up and sit down DeadEye.

9. Because, in essence, the only goal of this Executive Branch
Edited on Fri May-05-06 11:24 AM by ShortnFiery
is to gut the government ... continue to transfer all are hard earned taxed income into PROFITS for their Greedy Oil Buddies and other War Profiteers.

To Privatize this country from Sea to Shining Sea. Then in 2008, it won't matter who is, in name, The President of the United States. He will have to answer to "The Big Corporate Money Masters."

Everything, and I mean every damn thing is working PERFECT for this corrupt Administration. Their primary objective is to INCREASE THEIR PROFITS in the Private Sector while Gutting the Govt coffers.

Mission is going swimmingly ... oh yeah! :puke:

More wars and diplomatic fall outs? Well, that's good for business.

17. The diplomatic thing to do is BushCo to offer an apology to Putin
Which is what almost any other country in the world would have done. Now we have another country pissed off at us for no good reason.

14. That "major international summit in July"
would be of the G7+1, aka. G8, of which Russia currently holds the presidency, btw. Funny how that doesn't get mentioned much these days...
