Bush arrives for state visit
George Bush has arrived in the UK for the first state visit by a US president amid some of the tightest security London has ever seen.

Prince Charles met Mr Bush and his wife at Heathrow, before they travelled via helicopter to Buckingham Palace for a private reception with the Queen.

The last president to stay in the palace was Woodrow Wilson in 1918.

Scotland Yard has put in place a £5m operation which will see over 5,000 police on the capital's streets.

An opinion poll suggests more Britons back the visit than oppose it, but tens of thousands of demonstrators are expected at a march on Thursday.

1. Interesting. Another source said they would not come in at Heathrow and
the tv news last night (sorry don't know which one we flip all the time) said over 14,000 police.

7. Part of his unwelcome trip...
Um, has he met with any families of U.S. troops killed in Iraq?

Bush to meet soldiers' families
US President George Bush plans to meet the families of some UK troops killed in Iraq when he visits London.
...
When asked about the families of the 54 British soldiers killed in Iraq, President Bush said: "I am going to meet some.

"There's two messages. One, the prayers of the American people and the prayers of the president are with them, as they suffer.

"Secondly, that I will tell them that their loved ones did not die in vain. The actions we have taken will make the world more secure and the world more peaceful in the long run."

However, the father of the youngest UK soldier killed in Iraq said Mr Bush and Mr Blair did not care about the deaths of British troops.

Andrew Kelly,18, from Tavistock, in Devon, died in a shooting accident near his barracks in the southern city of Basra on 6 May.

His father Robert, from Saltash, in Cornwall, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme he had not been invited to meet Mr Bush, and did not want to meet him.

"For these people to meet families, it is only for their own gain," he said.

"What does George Bush care about our families and my family? He doesn't care."

8. Shrub flew into RAF Northolt
This a Royal Air Force base that originates from ww2 but is still used today and the majority of overseas dignatories fly in here.

It is next to the M40 which is just on the outskirts of London, used to drive by it every day.

I hope and pray the Brits back home give him plenty of flak.

<spelling probably sucks>
