An educational group that former Vice President Al Gore is helping to launch intends to spend millions of dollars convincing Americans that global warming is an urgent problem.

The U.S. hasn't enacted mandatory limits on greenhouse-gas emissions, a situation many environmentalists attribute to slim public awareness of the consequences of rising temperatures.

The group, which yesterday adopted the name Alliance for Climate Protection, plans to use advertising and grass-roots organizing to try to raise awareness, particularly among labor groups, hunters, evangelicals and conservatives in general.

The effort, still in the planning stages, will look "like a political campaign," predicts Lee M. Thomas, who ran the Environmental Protection Agency during President Ronald Reagan's second term and has agreed to be a board member.

1. Gore is a true visionary
He has the intellect to realize what's going on in this country and the planet.

When W ran against him, Gore knew the corporatism that W would bring along with the resulting downslide in our standard of living. He talked about it and right wingers laughed at him as a paranoid sob. Now they know the truth. He talked about the need to protect American workers. Gore was right. The Bushbots laughed at him, but they are now finding out he indeed knew what he was talking about.

Gore won the majority vote for president and was a thousand times more qualified than W to take the helm
of this country. Gore cared about Americans. W cares about global corporatists.

Gore foretold of environmental disaster. He was right.

3. Gore was right about everything
Ah, but he wasn't the "candidate you'd like to have a beer with".

I believe this country has FINALLY seen what they get with a corrupt, mentally-retarded little beer-drinking goon in office.

I really, REALLY hope Al runs in 2008 and WINS AGAIN. I will just feel bad that he will be stuck cleaning up the goon's horrid messes, when if Al had taken his rightful place in the WH to begin with, we wouldn't have any messes to clean up.
