Poll: 2004 Election Was Stolen; according to viewers of all news networks except Fox News

by Rob Kall
opednews.com

(snip)

In the first poll of its kind, OpEdNews.com, in the second OpEdNews/Zogby People's poll has learned that except for viewers of right wing news show, Fox News, poll respondents believe that the 2004 presidential election was stolen.

Overall, the poll found that 39% said that the 2004 election was stolen. 54% said it was legitimate. Shortly after the election, the NY Times suggested that a few fringe extremists and bloggers were concerned about the theft of the election.

But let's look at the demographics on this question. Of the people who watch Fox news as their primary sourc of TV news, one half of one percent believe it was stolen and 99% believe it was legitimate. Among people who watched ANY other news source but FOX, more felt the election was stolen than legitimate. The numbers varied dramatically:

Here are the stats by network listed as first choice by respondent and whether the respondent thought the election was stolen or legitimate.
Network Stolen Legitimate
ABC 56% 32%
CBS 64% 31%
CNN 70% 24%
FOX .5% 99%
MSNBC 65% 24%
NBC 49% 43%
Other 56% 28%

The poll asked people which was their favorite source of TV newst. Among the 689 people in the poll who answered this question, 37% watched Fox news, more than any other single network. CNN came in second with 21% with MSNBC third, with 13%. It makes sense for these three 24/7 news networks to be the top in this category, since the others air news for limited parts of the day.

1. Has there EVER been a poll where one side had 99%?
Personally, I'm surprised that even 99 people watch FAUX News. I can't make it any longer than the second or so it takes to switch channels.

12. Yes old Russian elections at the time of Stalin
Had a 99.98 % winning margin for the Kommunist Party. Since there was only one name on the ballot

2. Isn't it comforting that Fox is no "sponsoring" Hillary?

3. Not quite what it seems...
If you look at the original story, you'll find this was merely an online poll of 707 likely Pennsylvania voters. In terms of the big picture, I'd say the results are little to get worked up about.

19. No, the results give a big hint at where the real problems
in this country lie.

4. I'm amazed...
Even by the fucked-up standards of the freepers and faux watchers, I'm amazed. 99%!?

What's worth noting is that, even so, 39% of the US believes the election was stolen. Really, how far would you have to go to find another "democracy" with that level of confidence? 1990's Iraq? Turkmenistan? Uzbekistan?

Home of the brave new world...

5. What's the margin of error?
Those subgroups have got to be pretty small- probably +/- 5% or more?
Still, very interesting- hope it gets some play in the MSM!

6. What amazes me is that so many of these 707 likely Pennsylvania voters
believe the 2004 election was stolen.

(Although I'm also pretty disgusted by those (among the people polled) who would have said in Dec. 2004 that it wasn't and have only changed their mind because they're less approving of Bush. (I'm disgusted because it shows how poor many Americans are at critical thinking.)

7. I think people here sometimes underestimate the American voter
Americans are often slow to "get it", but given enough time, they get it, even when the media is not covering the story.

Tonight, we here are in the clear majority, when it comes to this administration and its policies. We are in a majority in spite of overwhelming odds favoring our opponents. That's a comforting thought to hold onto during a time of darkness.

11. But if gas prices weren't so high, would we be? (I'm not sure we are

in the majority, though; we'll see what happens in Nov.) If people are changing their mind based on gas prices, when they weren't swayed to change their mind by the fact that Bush's tax policies hurt everyone but the ultrarich, I have no hope (and I think this is the case). (If gas prices were high because there were high taxes, rather than high profits for oil companies, I'd ecstatic. High gas prices in and of themselves aren't bad; it's what the oil companies are going to buy (politicians) with all their profits that's bad).

13. Until the masses wake up from their dimwitted slumber
And realize that

1. Tramps may get easy abortions

2. Gay men can kiss each other and marry

3. Mexicans can actually have a productive job.

Then the great mass of THE unwashed, will follow the dictates of DR. ROVE --- vote for Cheney et Al and merrily slink back to their sound sleep in their heated water beds to dream of Jesus and worship with Dr. Falwell, Rev Ralph Reed and John Osteen.

8. Might say more about the vix-network than anything else:
A number like 99% makes me think of koolaid and vow-taking and otherwise giving up any pretense of actually using whatever you have in the way of cogitating skills. Zombies is what we have here.

Imagine Fox as your "primary news source"! Imagine openly identifying Fox as your "primary news source"!!

Obviously as we know anyone with any serious interest in knowing what is going on cannot rely these days on even mainstream corporate-corrupted media like ABC/NBC/CBS/NYT/WP, never mind swill-purveyors like Fox. We have to gently break the news to these folks that it is time to re-learn to read and run through books on a regular basis (yike!). On-line time will have to be diverted from chat rooms and porn sites to political/news sites and blogs (present company prime example).

9. Is this real, or is it "satire"?
The figures for Fox are a little dodgy. 0.5%? That doesn't sound right even for the Bizarro Universe.

16. I have a feeling that the 2004 election
is going to become like Woodstock, just in reverse. Just as everyone in 1969 seems to have been there, as time goes on no one is going to have ever actually voted for Bozo the President. Oh, and everyone is going to have realized that it was stolen from jump. Which, of course, is not to say that the election was not stolen (I think even Fox viewers recognize that it was, but in their demented little universe, that is a good thing; hence since it is a good thing, it can't be a bad thing and stealing elections is a bad thing which means that to Fox viewers it wasn't stolen).

Actually, I am waiting for a poll among freepers which shows that 97% of them claim it was stolen, but it was engineered by Clinton inorder to elect the most incompetent President ever( falsely running as a conservative) to pave the way for Hillary's election in 2008.

18. Makes it pretty clear
who the real enemy of America, democracy and our constitution is, doesn't it?

To quote Douglas Addams -- "a bunch of mindless jerks who will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes".

21. Sample size is too small to be statistically valid.
It's interesting, but not necessarily representative.

Take a 7500 person poll and show me the statistical breakdown next time.
