1. Was he the one who always said things like... "Well, if you would have
left this chest in its original condition, it would have been worth fifty thousand dollars but because you repainted it...."

2. I met Mr Boos many times
My grandmother G was a well-respected, longtime antique dealer here in Saginaw. Her sales and purchases often involved Mr Boos and his then-partner, Mr Stalker, and their gallery in Birmingham, MI. As Gram got too old to drive (she lived to 93), I was shanghaied into chaufferring her down there and hanging out for an hour or two while they all conducted business.
Mr Boos always made sure I was comfortable and provided very good coffee -- a treat after an 8:30 am, 100-mile run down I-75. Can't say I learned much about antiques, though -- not even through osmosis.
John
Although I did learn quite a bit about I-75. Exit 69 is Big Beaver Road. Heh.

5. My parents used to go to Boos and Stalker
I spent many a boring hour there listening to the rents prattle on about assorted antiques in the 70s LOL

I like antiques but to this day I don't like looking for them (deliver them and I will enjoy---but I am not shopping for them)

6. Hiya Carni
Are you in Michigan? Come to FUNDAY on June 17 in Saginaw. Details are over in the MICHIGAN forum.
John
I do live in a house built in 1877. But the only antiques in it are Polly and me.

9. It's lovely that some Antique Dealers have garnered a bit of fame!
Sports figures and mediocre singing talents- everyone knows their name.

Antiques Roadshow has helped bring appreciation for the Arts and Crafts into the American's public life. That's a terrific developement.

11. I remember
that he was confined to a wheelchair and always gave appraisals for fine silver.
Mr. Boos was one of the original members of the Antiques Roadshow cast. Rest in peace Mr. Boos.
