LONDON — Two British soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb as they patrolled
in an armored vehicle near the southern Iraqi city of Basra on Saturday night,
the Ministry of Defense said. A third soldier was injured.

The ministry said the attack occurred while the soldiers carried out a routine
patrol north of Basra. A British helicopter recovered the men, who were taken
to a military hospital.

2. Two more for the pile..

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Basra and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

4. What is all this "patrolling" stuff anyway?
Patrolling what and for what purpose? They are like ducks in a shooting gallery.

5. I believe I read a while ago they quit patrolling
They have pretty much been holed up in their base. I think the Shiite militias are in real control. Why the hell are the Brits still there anyway?

9. I believe that is the intention.
The patrols are sent out to draw fire. Grunts are always expendible.
