God warns of coastal storms, possible tsunami, Robertson says

VIRGINIA BEACH — Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson is warning that, according to God, storms and possibly a tidal wave will pound America’s coastline this year.

Robertson raised the forecasts at least four times in the past two weeks on “The 700 Club,” the TV show produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach. He founded CBN and hosts the program.

Storms not hitting coast - close enough to zero to call it none.

Tidal Wave - take into account Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. Territories and very minor tsunamis the odds aren't that bad either.

Back in the 80's, he was a lot nuttier than more recently. But he's been on and off late night cable access where I am, so he's not easy to catch.

I used to be on his mailing list. He'd send out the most fantastic stuff. It was better than the Banana Splits Fan Club ever was.

I swear his show was one of the most entertaining things that was ever on television. A league of his own, really.

In the mid-eighties, I worked in a large hotel in Downtown Norfolk where we hosted several CBN conventions. You could always tell the CBNers from the other guests because they had this glazed, doped-up happy face. If that crap isn't a cult, then cults don't exist.

that God doesn't talk to European leaders so far. Not sure about televangelists, because we don't have much of that species here. The pope might talk to God, although there are no scientifically verified reports God ever has answered. I'm not sure about how sane it is to talk for 2000 years to someone who never gives an clearly audible answer, but hey I've heard of stranger hobbies!

And as far as I'm concerned, Americans can keep their talkative God all for themselves... ;)
