Howard laughs off Bush's bald jibe

Prime Minister John Howard has laughed off a jibe by US President George W Bush about his baldness, pointing to similarly follicly-challenged members of the US administration.

Mr Bush told a White House news conference that the main difference between himself and the Australian leader was that Mr Howard "doesn't have any hair".

Mr Howard appears not to have taken it too personally.

"He actually re-ran that line in the cabinet room and we all laughed and I looked at (Vice-President) Dick Cheney and (intelligence chief) John Negroponte and (John) Snow, the Treasury secretary, and I said, George, I'm in good company," Mr Howard told reporte

and he didn't look like he took it all that well.

I'm sure when he said what he did, they didn't take it so well either. Men are sooooo vain, especially sad little men on power trips.

12. mmm....
don't know too many other people that would describe Cheney, Snow and Negroponte as "good company..."

Still an interesting insight into Bush's "mind". It is bad enough that he made the joke once, but he thinks its worth repeating???

:puke:

10. Bush's "jokes" are mostly of the put down variety. Hurtful.
Like all of the nicknames he gives others.
His way of exerting power and control over others,
and constantly building himself up, covering a deep
deep insecurity.

37. Certainly does raise family of origin issues....
He is a very angry guy, all the "jokes" are hostile.

Why?

There are a number of possible family scenarios that could have contributed to all of this.

15. Barbara Bush sure fell short with teaching her son...
to never point out a persons physical shortcomings. It is the epitome of rudeness and lack of empathy. Hard to believe the president of this country does it to everyone. I guess I'm a hypocrite because I am guilty of pointing out how dumb and weird looking Bush is.

Our media... Sad.

38. Here's an interesting article
by Robert Parry on bush's "arrested development"..

Snips~

"Though many men are very sensitive about losing their hair, Bush seems to find their baldness a source of humor, a way to put them in their place.

At a press conference on Aug. 24, 2001, Bush called on a Texas reporter who had covered Bush as Texas governor. Bush said the young reporter was “a fine lad, fine lad,” drawing laughter from the national press corps.

The Texas reporter then began to ask his question, “You talked about the need to maintain technological …” But Bush interrupted the reporter to deliver his punch line:

“A little short on hair, but a fine lad. Yeah.”

As Bush joined in the snickering, the young reporter paused and acknowledged meekly, “I am losing some hair.”

Bush exhibits other physical alpha-male tendencies, such as when he greets another man by cupping his hand behind the man’s neck, a sign of both affection and control.

Bush also demonstrates who’s boss by assigning goofy nicknames"

Much more..
