Vioxx Risks Begin Earlier than Thought, (Secret FDA) Study Says
(This is another "...confidential report to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)..." that they (and Merck) chose not to tell us about.)

Vioxx Risks Begin Earlier than Thought, Study Says

Listen to this story...(and read more at link)
by Snigdha Prakash

Morning Edition, May 18, 2006 · New data obtained by NPR show that patients who took Vioxx even for short periods were at higher risk of heart problems and strokes. An estimated 20 million Americans took the painkiller before Merck & Co. stopped selling it in 2004.

In a confidential report to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week, Merck gave new details about a large Vioxx study known by the acronym APPROVe. Results from this study led Merck to pull Vioxx from the market in 2004, and were later published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).

The new report details more heart problems. Several of the new events occurred in Vioxx patients soon after they started taking the drug.

Clinical trial expert Curt Furberg of Wake Forest University reviewed the new report for NPR. He says it shows short-term users of Vioxx were at greater risk of heart problems than previously described in the NEJM paper. The data in that paper indicated "it takes about 18 months to see an increase in risk," said Furberg. "With the new information, the risk appears to be present from the beginning, and it increases gradually over time."

1. "Confidential"
Of course, the FDA under this maladministration did not want the one-fodder-units to know about this. Gotta protect Merck, you know? Besides, culling the herd is a good thing, as far as they are concerned.

I think that the evidence is firming up to show that in just about every area, this group of filth that runs the nation are the enemies of common americans.

2. And according to the NPR report, this is the report they based last weeks
..."bare-bones" public version, in which they lied and said the opposite of what scientists who have now reviewed this Full, Confidential Report say it shows.

Oh, sorry, I'm being told that they did NOT "lie" if you will, they just reached different conclusions that are not supported by the evidence. :banghead:

5. 3 years. the last year and a half I took only when I really needed it.
Now I take nothing. My stomach is shot from Vioxx, aspirin, and Ibuprofen. I take an aspirin every month or so. If I am hurting real bad I go to a friend's house for some of his home remedy. That cuts the anxiety, taking my mind off the pain.

6. Only prescription drugs are truly safe - herbs like marijuana are killers
That's what they want you to believe.

Me? No prescription drugs. Nothin' but herbal.

Perhaps one day this country will awake from its prescription drug madness.

8. Oh, that's not good. Yes, I would definitely get tested. You could be...
...unaffected in the way cited, but you won't know until you get checked out. There are a lot more links to more info and stories from the last few years at NPR:

They've been following this subject very closely.

I do have one bit of advice you might try for your stomach. See if you have a good Natural Foods store in your area, they should have Aloe Vera Juice.

Hopefully, they will have the brand "George's," which is highly filtered, colorless and tasteless. Most other Aloe Vera juices taste like crap, but George's has almost no taste at all.

It's usually is sold in Quarts, 1/2 Gallon and Gallon jugs. It might seem expensive, but compared to antacid drugs, it's about the same. Here are a few links to on-line info and prices, though I haven't bought it on line before:

<http://www.warrenlabsaloe.com/>

Drink that for a while. I drink that whenever my stomach acts up instead of taking antacids pills, it might help your stomach heal itself, plus it has the same effects on you whole digestive and intestinal track too.

Good Luck. :pals:

9. My echo and stress test came back good.
Thanks for the suggestion on Aloe. If I don't take pills, my stomach doesn't bother me.
