Briber paid for 2nd meal for Harris
May 21, 2006

Rep. Katherine Harris wound up embroiled in a firestorm last month after acknowledging she had a $2,800 meal with a defense contractor convicted of bribery.

Now it turns out that wasn't her first fancy meal with corrupt contractor Mitchell Wade. Harris had dined with Wade previously at the same tony Washington restaurant and failed to pay her share as required by congressional rules, her campaign acknowledged Friday.

"She takes responsibility for the oversight that there was no reimbursement," campaign spokesman Chris Ingram said.

Ingram said the Republican Senate candidate has made a charitable donation equivalent to her share of that meal, but he could provide no details. He said he did not know how much that meal cost, how much Harris donated to charity or what the charity was.

Aw, poor Kathy is in trouble again. I just hope her campaign implodes before the Nov. election. It will be so much fun to watch.

2. How the hell do you spend $2,800 on a business dinner?
Unless they drank the winelist dry, I can't see that it would be possible to eat that much food. Even the nicest restaurants will usually charge no more than $50 for an entree and $100 for the main course. Chip in another $50 for dessert, multiply by the two diners and you've got $400. Plus tip and tax, say $500. And that's for a very nice meal.

That leaves $2,300 for drinkiepoos. They must have been seriously fucked up when they left the restaurant.

13. I remember reading that the guy was ordering from the winelist to go,
for some other event, or something. It wasn't all spent on that actual meal with Harris.

15. snip from an editorial in the St Petersburg Times
indicates that the 'bottles to go' story may not be true.

>>The wine, by the way, may well have been of the $1,000-a-bottle French Bordeaux variety, reportedly one of Wade's favorites. But the restaurant maitre d' told the Times that its liquor license prohibits patrons from taking home any bottle. Maybe Harris will uncork a little more of the truth in her next statement.

8. Let them take their time
Right now, if they raid her office, she might have to drop out
and could get replaced with a real candidate.

19. That's OUR money!!
Remember, these government contractors are using funds they got from US to bribe their way into more contracts, so they can get more of OUR money to bribe themselves into more contracts, so they can........
