Supreme court won't decide lethal injection challenge
Supreme court won't decide lethal injection challenge
May 22, 2006 — By James Vicini

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Supreme Court on Monday declined to decide whether a chemical cocktail used to execute convicted murderers violates the U.S. Constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment, clearing the way for the practice to continue.

The justices refused to hear the appeal by a Tennessee death row inmate who said one of the drugs may inflict inhumane pain and that 30 states, including his own, have banned using it for the euthanasia of animals.

The high court at the end of April heard arguments in a similar case from Florida on whether death row inmates can bring a last-minute challenge to the lethal injection method under a federal civil rights law. A decision in that, narrower, Florida case is expected by the end of June.

The court rejected the Tennessee appeal without comment.

:crickets:

Oh, right, the Pro-Lifer's FAVOR the Death-Penalty, especially for those who believe in and practice women's rights.

3. The "pro-life" agenda doesn't cover this
To the "pro-life" crowd, life begins at conception and ends at birth.

4. From the article, I find most appalling the statement ....
"...concluding the lethal injection protocol does not violate contemporary standards of decency...."
Yeah, it actually says "decency".
I have a solution for the proper protocol - no death penalty. And, in shunning hypocrisy, I would not sway from my position should it "hit home", either.
...O...

5. Well, compared to the electric chair, I guess not
What a crock. We are a nation that loves cruelty, it seems.

I feel sorry for people without mercy, what's it going to be like for them in their final hours and beyond?

"Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and
you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be for-
given." (Luke 6:36-38)

Fundies only believe in what the Bible says when it helps them condemn other people. They only pay attention the the Laws of God that pertain to homsexuality, they ignore all dietary, Sabbath, and Holy Day laws. "Not for us," they say, "we're saved by Jesus!" and then they ignore the words of Jesus, too, like the ones you see above.

Sad for the rest of us :(
