Germans warned of neo-Nazi surge (BBC)
Edited on Mon May-22-06 12:57 PM by eppur_se_muova
German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble has urged extra vigilance from the public to help tackle a rise in far-right extremism.

He said there should be no "no-go areas" for foreigners, as he presented an official report showing a rise in neo-Nazi violence last year.

A Turkish-born politician, Giyasettin Sayan, is in hospital following an apparently racist assault on Friday.
***
Former government spokesman Uwe-Karsten Heye drew criticism from politicians after suggesting that black people should avoid parts of the former communist East Germany.

German police have warned that far-right groups are planning to use the World Cup as a platform to win publicity.

1. Could this be part of the neo con agenda...I have seen a big rise
all over the world of the far-right (Nazi) agenda...this has been planned for a long time and I think that America has been a big part of this.

2. I tend to agree with that thought. Fueled by the 9/11 attacks, it will
only get worse.

3. Without the demand for civil rights (e.g. MLK) we are beginning
to see a rise in racial intolerance again. With the MLK era, racists everywhere had to take notice. Some saw the light and renounced racism. Before the MLK era it was Nazi Germany and the horrendous lessons learned from extreme racial prejudice. The Holocaust did open my eyes like nothing else.

Now we have, for example, my two brothers who are former peace-loving hippies who can casually toss around the blatantly racist term "raghead."

Whereas I used to venture into Mexico (at times by myself) I don't think it would be wise as a white guy to do this any more.
