Dean team to meet Georgia supporters

By TOM BAXTER
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean's campaign manager, Joe Trippi, will be in Atlanta today to meet with the newly announced county chairs for Dean's Georgia campaign.

In what the campaign describes as "a sharp departure from the conventional model," Dean's campaign is relying heavily on local volunteers to head up its grass-roots efforts.

The campaign said in a release that it had named chairs in 44 counties and is moving quickly to set up organizations in other counties.

Trippi will meet with campaign supporters as part of a national organizational effort called "From Mousepads to Shoeleather."

2. Have Fun, ya'll!
"This type of organizing is paramount," Atlanta City Councilman H. Lamar Willis, a Dean supporter, said in the release. "We saw the loss of the governor's office, the state Senate and a U.S. Senate seat because, as a party, we Democrats have done a poor job of organizing at the ground level."

4. Pointless
General Rove has planted his own flag here. Ralph Reed is his field commander. Georgia is lost.

Go on past to Florida, Dr. Dean.
