Active-duty troops' data stolen from VA

By HOPE YEN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Personal data on more than 2.2 million active-duty military troops - not just 50,000 as initially believed - were among the material stolen from a Veterans Affairs employee last month, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

In a briefing paper to Congress, the Defense Department said the VA understated figures when it said up to 50,000 Navy and National Guard troops - and no other active-duty personnel - were affected by the May 3 burglary.

In fact, names, birth dates and Social Security numbers of more than 1.1 million active-duty troops from all the armed forces, along with more than 1 million National Guard and Reserve personnel, were also stolen, according to a Pentagon briefing paper distributed to Congress. A copy was obtained by The Associated Press.>>>>snip

1. How can "they" protect America if they can't even protect our soldier's
vital financial info?

6. Those active duty military are protecting the corporations' rights
to steal the personal freedom.

If I were them, I would certainly continue to protect and defend this mal-administration's privileges to destroy their lives. :sarcasm:

7. They spilled data on nearly everybody?
Wow! When they screw up they don't go half way.
Who didn't they compromise?

Dumb question: Why on Earth does one need to take a whole
database full of sensitive data home?

We can only hope that the burglar was only out to steal hardware.
