Prominent diplomat, publisher missing
BALTIMORE, Maryland (AP) -- Rescue crews searched the Chesapeake Bay for a prominent publisher and diplomat Sunday, hours after his sailboat was discovered empty in the water with the engine still running.

The Coast Guard dispatched a C-130 aircraft, a helicopter and a boat to assist in the search for 72-year-old Philip Merrill, who had been sailing alone Saturday.
.....
In December 2002, he was sworn in by Vice President Dick Cheney as president and chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.....

Before that, Merrill was chairman of the board of the Annapolis-based Capital-Gazette Communications Inc., which publishes The Washingtonian magazine, The Capital and four other Maryland newspapers.

He served as assistant secretary-general of NATO in Brussels from 1990 to 1992. Between 1983 to 1990, he served on the Department of Defense Policy Board......

He is a former special assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State and has worked in the White House on national security affairs.

1. More on Philip Merril

Prominent Md. Publisher Missing From Boat (from The Guardian by Brian Witte)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-5879095,00.html

In 1997 Merril participated in a panel discussion on NATO-his views exhibit classic neo-con influences and ideology when it comes to going to war for energy and related matters.

So yet another "coincidence" like hunting accidents, suicides, accidents etc. involving associates of the administration.

I believe we ran out of coincidences quite some time ago.

foundations bearing his name and support-like other structural components of the BFEE that attract and corrupt the "best and brightest" imo.

I just don't think coincidence applies anymore when it comes to these events.

22. Paul Newman is still a driven man at 81!
http://news.inq7.net/entertainment/index.php?index=2&story_id=77964&col=134

CHARLOTTE, NORTH Carolina—

Paul Newman still a driven man at 81

At 81, Paul Newman might have looked frail when he walked into the media room
of the Lowe’s Motor Speedway but, as the cliché goes, looks are deceiving.

After our press con with one of Hollywood’s statesmen, he suited up and took to the track,
the roar of his race car drowning out our subsequent press con
with Owen Wilson,
his co-star in Pixar’s latest animated film, “Cars.”

You wouldn’t normally expect that from a silver-haired man dressed in a light purple tee,
khaki jacket and pants, canvas sneakers and a pair of reading glasses hanging from his neck.
But hey, Paul Newman is not the world’s oldest racing car champ for nothing.
He earned that honor in a Daytona event when he was a young man of 70.

So at this stage in his distinguished career, what is Paul doing in an animated film?
The actor, coughing intermittently and speaking in a voice that’s slightly hoarse
(he blamed the “allergy season”) explained,
“I’m 81 years old and I do less than I used to.....

-----------------------------------------

If 50 is the 'new' thirties, then 81 must be the new "middle age'!!

7. After the Wellstone event, I tried to do a chart
of small plane accidents involving politically-connected figures. On Excel. It was probably incomplete but it was the best I could come up with from an internet search. The figures were startlingly bizarre.

Except for one 4-year stretch, every politically-connected plane accident I could find involved a Democrat. During the 4-year stretch, ONLY Republicans crashed. (So far as I was able to find out.) The four years were the years in which George H.W. Bush was president.

I thought it was odd.

23. I'd love to see that chart
Just the events surrounding Wellstone's crash were mucho bzarre, with Wolf
Blitzer basically dribing off the local reporter at the Everett MN airpost.

She was stating *emphatically* that weather conditions had nothing to do with
the crash...

And the plane was a top of the line airplane, with not one but TWO pilots
at the helm.

Is there a way you could email it to me at cjsterrittATsethreturns.com ?

13. John Arthur Paisley died while sailing on the Chesapeake Bay
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/JFKpaisley.htm

snip:

Paisley returned to the CIA in 1957 and was placed in charge of the CIA's Electronic Equipment Branch, Industrial Division. In 1959 Paisley spent a great deal of time in Eastern Europe where he analyzed developments being made in Soviet technology.

According to Dick Russell, Paisley may have been linked to the decision of Lee Harvey Oswald to defect to the Soviet Union. Paisley, who was later appointed as deputy director of the Office of Strategic Research, retired from the CIA in 1974.

On 24th September, 1978, John Paisley, took a trip on his motorized sailboat on Chesapeake Bay. Two days later his boat was found moored in Solomons, Maryland. Paisley's body was found in Maryland's Patuxent River. The body was fixed to diving weights. He had been shot in the head. Police investigators described it as "an execution-type murder". However, officially Paisley's death was recorded as a suicide.

According to the journalist, Victor Marchetti, Paisley was a close friend of Yuri Nosenko. Marchetti also claimed that Paisley knew a great deal about the assassination of John F. Kennedy and was murdered during the House Select Committee on Assassinations investigation because he was "about to blow the whistle".

8. Export-Import Bank is mechanism for shifting taxpayer wealth to private
companies.

IUC, they make loans of taxpayer money to private companies which don't have to paid back if there's a default.

For example, IIRC, Enron got a lot of money from the EIB to invest in that Indian power plant. When the Indian government cancelled the whole project, Enron didn't have to pay back the bank (and taxpayers ate that loss while Enron execs bought land and homes in Colorado with the money they were making out of that company).

25. How about this explanation...
One evening, an extremely wealthy 72 year old man, residing in a posh waterfront estate near Annapolis MD, decides to walk down to his pier and take the sailboat for a motor (notice that the article says the CG found the boat motoring without Merril aboard). After making way, old man needs to relieve his weak bladder. While standing at the rail peeing overboard, old man loses balance and falls overboard while sailboat motors off without him. Old man swims for a while, then loses strength and drowns.
