Rove: GOP doesn’t need to make excuses
White House adviser raises money for New Hampshire Republicans

MANCHESTER, N.H. - White House adviser Karl Rove said Monday that Republicans facing midterm elections should campaign on the economy’s strength and discuss the war in Iraq with no qualms.

“We have no excuses to make for it,” Rove said during a fundraising dinner for New Hampshire Republicans. War supporters need not apologize for removing the threat of Saddam Hussein, and with so much work left to do, now is not the time to talk about leaving Iraq, he said.

Rove said Democrats pushing for the withdrawal of American troops should be the ones facing tough questions for wanting to “cut and run.” He targeted Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, both Democrats and vocal supporters of getting out of Iraq.

“They are profoundly wrong,” he said.

8. Campaign on "the economy's STRENGTH? " BWAhahahaaaaaaaaa!!!!!
That stupid lie is what first started turning their base against them!

That's the ONE SINGLE issue that they can't actually spin,
the one LIE that would have been better left UNTOLD.

The average "working person" knows damn well that their paycheck
is buying much less than it did 5 years ago,
while their GASOLINE bill...
and their GROCERY bill...
and their ELECTRIC bill...
and their HEATING bill...
are all at least DOUBLE,
and often FOUR times as much as they were in the year 2000.

And the average worker is pretty damn GRATEFUL to have any job,
because they have spent five years watching their friends
and neighbors getting "downsized"
and "outsourced"
and just generally "cast out" on the the streets
to scrape the gutters for stray nickels
and WalMart "greeter" jobs...

Yeah, GOP, just keep telling "Joe SixPack" _ALL_ about that "strong economy"
of yours...

25. Factoring inflation, I've received a whopping TWO percent raise since 2001
Fucking ridiculous. I'm keeping way less than ever, a trip to a CHEAP grocery store for 15 items costs 50-60 dollars as opposed to 25 for those same items three years ago, fuel costs more (ergo, train bus and air fares are all increasing), bills are going up, I think our bank has hired one American worker for every 7 Indians . . . yeah, this economy is going GANGbusters.

And what happens if you're NOT a well monied white male?

18. only about 2-3 dozen protestors showed up. But, good for them.

......At an event last month, Rove blamed the war in Iraq for hurting Bush’s job approval ratings in national polls. Rove said people like Bush but don’t like the war.

About two dozen to three dozen protesters gathered Monday across the street from the Center of New Hampshire, where the event was being held. Democratic protesters said New Hampshire Republicans needed a big draw like Rove to help pay legal fees in a phone jamming case. Three GOP officials have been convicted of charges stemming from the jamming of Democratic get-out-the-vote lines on Election Day 2002.

“Americans don’t like cheaters, these people cheated,” said Herb Moyer, 60, a Democrat from Exeter. The sign he carried read, “Karl Rove and New Hampshire GOP: Where criminals congregate.”

State Democrats have sued Republicans, partly to try to force disclosure of who among national GOP officials might have had knowledge of the plot. Republicans insist the operation was strictly local.

State GOP Chairman Wayne Semprini said Friday the party will use half or more of Monday’s proceeds to help candidates this fall. The rest of the money will pay for operating expenses, including legal fees racked up defending the Democratic lawsuit.

26. "Strong" economy?
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 06:34 AM by HughBeaumont
Funny, the Dow has dropped over 800 points and the NASDAQ over 200 points since May 10th. Americans are keeping way less while your Shitministration gives the rich tax breaks and wanted to give them infinitely MORE cash. And for such a "Strong" economy, why is it mysteriously LOW on real, living wage-with-benefits JOBS? Your job creation record is underperforming and painfully laughable; it can't even make the birth/death in/out quota each month. Manufacturing is all but DEAD in this country, Science is discouraged, and small businesses have a high failure rate and are all but impossible to start with your corporate-favored tax scams. You seem to think that Joe Bowling Alley can invent his way out of any mess like he did in the 60s-80s, when in reality, Microsofts and Apples were stars-aligned-on-the-right-day occurrences compared to the hundreds of thousands that try to make a living for themselves and fail miserably at doing so.

But hey, keep making those rows of $400,000 balsawood, sheetrock and Elmers homes. I'm sure you'll find some financially inept greed-lusting suckers willing to go into hock up to their eyeballs to achieve this Horatio Alger "American Dream" fantasy you keep shoving down their throats.

http://www.cmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060613/REPOSITORY/606130360

"When I think of corruption, I think of Karl Rove," said Chaz Proulx, a board member of Democracy for New Hampshire and a self-described "lefty blogger" for the political website NHinsider.com. "I have to wonder where the conscience is for the New Hampshire Republican Party."

Amen, Chaz!

30. My statement on Rove visit
Statement by Peter Sullivan on Rove Visit to Manchester

State Rep. Peter Sullivan released the following statement regarding Karl Rove's visit to Manchester on Monday:

"Karl Rove represents everything that is wrong with politics today. He places partisanship above the good of the country, he is willing to wreck lives for personal gain, and he perpetrates a foul politics of division and bitterness.

"Rove's actions in the Valerie Plame matter prove that he is unfit for public life. Anyone who releases classified intelligence for the sole purpose of intimidating a political critic shows a basic lack of honor and decency.

"I am stunned that the New Hampshire Republican State Committee would choose to honor such an individual. Karl Rove doesn't represent New Hampshire's values".

34. Remember, it's easy for those who have no loved ones or who do not
face danger themselves and who only send other people's children to face the threat of death to offer no apologies. This war and occupation in Iraq was wrong, evil, and motivated by greed and power. If I were the parent of one child killed in this invasion I would spend the rest of my life, as Cindy Sheehan is doing, working to never let it be forgotten that we were lied to about the reasons for this war and that the people responsible must be held accountable and prosecuted and punished for what they have done to our country and the lives they have cost us. Folks like Coulter, Rove, and Rush and their ilk are the spokespeople for the evil that reigns in our nation and may they rot in hell for all the hate they have sown here and around the world.
