MONTREAL, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Toronto stocks closed lower on Friday, hit by profit-taking and a sharp fall in health-care issues, with Biovail Corp. <BVF.TO> dropping almost 19 percent after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission launched an informal investigation into its accounting practices.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's key S&P/TSX composite index <.GSPTSE> closed 26.19 points, or 0.34 percent, lower at 7,783.59.

It ended up 0.4 percent on the week and 15.5 percent higher than in early January.

Some 246 million shares worth C$2.6 billion changed hands.

"Biovail is certainly affecting the whole health sector," said a Toronto-based equities analyst who wished to remain anonymous.
