Jackson Lee accepts apology from White House's Snow
Spokesman had ID problem with 2 black lawmakers

WASHINGTON - In the self-blame department, White House spokesman Tony Snow had a political doozy.

"I apologize for being an idiot," Snow said Thursday during his daily briefing to the news media. "I misidentified Representative Sheila Jackson Lee as Cynthia McKinney."

Last week, Snow gave reporters a routine account of a meeting President Bush conducted with members of Congress on Iraq. In the retelling, Snow confused one African-American Democratic female lawmaker for another.

"Cynthia McKinney made the point yesterday in the meeting with the president that the one thing they had gotten from generals there were thorough and honest assessments of what's going on," Snow said then.

But it was Jackson Lee, a Houston Democrat, who had made the point. McKinney, a Democrat from Georgia, wasn't at the meeting. Reporters were unaware of Snow's mix-up because they had never seen the private session.

1. "they all look alike to us white boys"
Snow's comment to reporters, excusing the mix-up.

15. A Hill article said that Obama and Ford are frequently IDd incorrectly
-by the press. An aid said it after an anchorman -I think it was Gibson- called one by the other's name.

16. I was just going to say the same thing.
Snow is a dumbshit. Two doozies in two days. and then there was the flight pic to Iraq. All in the same week if my nightmare serves me correctly.

3. At midnight, all cats are black cats.
What a dick! The Snow, Limbaugh, Savage, Coulter slime, hate and bigotry machines are chunkin' right along.
Oh, how I wish there were something to this "karma" thing.

4. There's no Karma anymore
A massive Depression and a decade or two of suffering is the only thing that will wake the average American up now. I hate to say it but I think I'm right.

7. That's the way it has always worked.
One can easily make the case that, in any question of national moment, the role, the 'raison d'etre' of activists is not so much drawing attention to or "fighting" for their particular cause as it is to spread a sense of misery, or actual misery, to as many people as possible.

In light of the "pendulum" theory of societal causality, nothing of real significance, universal suffrage, equal rights, or-arguably-both ends of Prohibition, came to pass unless and until the national misery index was high enough and affected enough people.

I, too, have long maintained that things are not bad enough yet for genuine reform to appear.
Another decade or two of chimperor may prove necessary to convince the resurgence of self-righteous haters to adopt a more pragmatic and realistic approach to dealing with the challenges

6. Well, they both have dark hair and are wearing
red. :sarcasm:

You can only "tell them apart" if you're actually INTERESTED.

10. He should have apologized for being a bigot
Although he is an idiot, his bigotry scream louder still talking about tar baby and laughing with reporters about his mix up.

What an ass.

12. It's a good thing that Snow doesn't work in Security at the Capitol.
He'd have a tough time IDing members of Congress even if they wore ID picture badges the size of lunch trays.

13. Key to a press secretary's job is being able to tell people apart
Personally, I'd have a hard time telling those two people apart. Not because they're black, but because as a child I took a good whack to my right frontal lobe, and have trouble telling a great many people apart.

For example, Rush Limbaugh and Ed Schultz look pretty much the same to me. Their voices are even similar. And to me, NBC Pentagon Correspondent Jim Miklaszewski looks almost exactly like Fred Willard.

But if Tony Snow has this problem, (which I doubt) then Press Secretary is the wrong job for him. Tony doesn't seem to have a trouble telling the white people apart.

In any case, it was nice that he decided to "hug the tarbaby" and apologize.

14. Plus, Tony was a news anchor who talked about the political scene
all the time. He should have had a pretty solid grasp of who all the legislators are before he even accepted the WH job.
