US House axes funding of Los Angeles Community Center

Washington, DC, (PageOneQ.com) Prior to passage of an appropriations bill the US House passed, via voice vote, an amendment that specifically prohibits funding for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, PageOneQ has found. The Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, the Judiciary, the District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for FY07 was amended with the addition of the following amendment, introduced by Rep. Steven King (R-Iowa):

HR 5576 Offered by Mr. King of Iowa None of the funds made available in this Act may be used for the construction, expansion, renovation, or building of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.

Would they agree to fund it if the GLBT folks agreed to put the Ten Commandments out in front of it? The Confederate Flag?

...Rep. Steven King (R-Iowa) should just STFU :grr:

Change the name to Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Rights Center and use the money :)

"Kill the Queers Christian Youth Center" and reapply. That might be more in line with what Mr King would want.

Don't the Republicans understand that Gays and Lesbians are tax paying American citizens and should be treated with respect?
