CNN: Senators Roberts, Feinstein spar over U.S. commitment in Iraq
Senators spar over U.S. commitment in Iraq
Sunday, June 18, 2006

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Pat Roberts said Sunday that setting a timetable to pull U.S. troops from Iraq would show American resolve to be "very shaky," but Sen. Dianne Feinstein said the U.S. commitment is unsustainable.

Roberts, a Kansas Republican and the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, and Feinstein, a California Democrat on that panel, spoke two days before a planned debate on the Senate floor over whether there should be a phased withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.

"Three years and three months into the war, with all of the losses, the insurgency, the burgeoning civil war that's taking place -- what was it, seven bombings in Baghdad yesterday? -- an open-ended time commitment is no longer sustainable," Feinstein said on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer."

"I don't think it's sustainable from the military point of view in terms of troop commitments. I don't think it's sustainable in terms of what Americans think about the war," Feinstein said. "A timetable, some goals, some discussion with the Congress by the administration. The president might not have wanted to have done that early on, but three years and three months and a bogging down, I think, suggests that the time has come for some discussion as to where we go from here."

Feinstein said she will introduce a resolution with two other Democrats -- Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, and Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada -- calling for "phased redeployment."...

6. she got TONS of heat before she betrayed us and voted for the IWR....
Calls and letters to her office were overwhelmingly opposed to the IWR, yet she betrayed her constituents and helped the Bush administration pass it. It's a bit late for DiFi to be growing a conscience.

2. So by Pat Roberts' own definition then
The "resolve" of the Iraqi people must be very "shaky" as well. Because the Iraqi Vice President asked Bush for a timetable for withdrawal.

3. So two pretty hawkish Senators battling it out?
That's "debate" in this country?

I want to see Barbara Lee and Kucinich going up against these backwater Republicans.

4. Product Life Cycle Management:: Iraq as product
"From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August." - White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card in 2003, explaining why "Project Stampede America Into Iraq War II" was introduced in September.

The Product Life Cycle refers to the succession of stages a product goes through.

Stage 3 Growth stage, profitability (contracts a-go-go; the gravy train; sorry, no refunds)

Stage 5: Decline -- enter "phased redeployment"

Roberts should be more of a corporate team player. Feinstein probably realizes the PLCM involved. She voted to cut taxes in 2001, and knows the treasury funding is down. The credit cards are max'd out.
China is curbing lending.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_Life_Cycle_Management

Consumers aren't buying the sales/marketing pitch as much anymore. 'Demand' for the product is declining. The field sales force is feeling the pinch.

Market Evolution is a process that parallels the product life cycle.

Stage 5: Market Termination - consumers no longer demand the product and companies stop producing it - enter "phased redeployment"

Have all the localities max'd out yet on buying the terra bells and whistles???
Where are those products in PLCM? Is the boondoggle slowing down?

Time to introduce a new product. Repeat and Rinse.

How about windmill farms instead? national health care? strengthening our infrastructure? sustainable communities? a rail system? levees/flood systems? Something 'constructive' over here, so we won't blow all our tax money/and available credit over there.

But, not detention centers.

7. Maybe Feinstein chose to ignore a very important matter....
it is now biting her in the arse. Shame on Feinstein.

Shame on devious, evil covering Pat Roberts for splitting the country, literally, with his 'super-highway'. Wonder what his cut is? Wonder what "guest workers" really means to Bushie? Field workers? I bet not.

Wonder what is actually going to be in those containers shipped from Mexico to Canada or received and/or shipped to the Far East? Hmmm. Bushie has been holding out on his announcements.
