From my local daily rag. I love these hypocrytical fundys.

WEST CHESTER - The evangelical minister who counts homosexuality and "wicked, sick, perverted rap music" among the contributors to society’s ills now blames his conviction for soliciting sexual favors from a borough boy on his defense attorney.
The Rev. Craig Stephen White, 42, a Pentecostal minister and preacher with the Philadelphia-based Gospel Outreach Center at the time of his arrest in July 2003, returned to Common Pleas Judge Anthony A. Sarcione’s courtroom on Wednesday.
More than two years ago, the judge had sentenced White -- known among his followers as "Brother Stephen" -- to four to 10 years in state prison after a jury had found him guilty of solicitation to commit involuntary sexual deviate intercourse, attempt at luring a child into a motor vehicle, solicitation to commit prostitution and corruption of minors.

<snip>

White, born in Arkansas, has said he was 18 year -old when he believes God called on him to become an evangelist. His ministry landed him in Philadelphia because, he said, "The Northeast is the most spiritually impoverished region."

1. fundy ministers
This is nothing new for them, it has been going on for as long as I can remember. I'm 64 so it's a long time, except some of th sixty's are a little hazy.

4. This is a motion for post conviction relief.
This portion was "snipped," but most such motions are based on the argument that incompetent defense counsel resulted in a denial of due process.

3. It's always somebody else's fault with these guys, isn't it?
No matter what horrible thing they do, they expect Calvinist Jesus to swoop down and make it all go away, to get defense attorneys who are capable of bamboozling judge and jury into believing that self proclaimed ministers are above the law of man and out of the jurisdiction of government courts.

It's the type of thinking that kept the Catholic church immune from prosecution when they were shuffling pedophiles from parish to parish, that ecclesiastical law trumped civil law and that the church should be responsible for its own discipline.

That kind of thinking has never worked out too well, which is why the framers of the constitution inserted the first amendment to separate church and state, making everyone in the country subject to civil laws, at least theoretically.

I hope they put the arrogant little freak away for a very long time, at least until his willy quits working.

5. Maybe that explains some of the fundamentalists fixation on sex,
and especially gay sex...

I don't normally hear about personal sexual practices from the people with whom I meet in public or at work or at social gatherings... Now my friend J.D. and I love to hear every detail, blow by blows, but we're guys and noone is there to hear us except for us!

7. The hypocracy gets even better - Repent America is supporting the
preacher!

"Among White’s supporters is Michael Marcavage, a 26-year-old Lansdowne resident and director of the ultra-conservative Repent America organization."

I guess they are speaking the truth when they say they don't hate homosexuals - they actually support them unless there's money to be made off it. Then they condemn it and send a fundraising letter.

8. Had a "sinner" or a "Democrat" done this, the Rev. White would have
raised holy hell. From the site, "RedMorals," http://tesibria.typepad.com/redmorals/what_child_abuse_pediophileia/index.html an earlier story:

White faces charges for asking minor for sex
Pa. police arrest firebrand 'Brother Stephen'

BY GILLIAN GILLERS
Contributing Reporter

"Brother Stephen" heatedly discusses some of the most sensitive social
and political issues with students in front of WLH last winter. His love of
controversy may soon lessen as he becomes embroiled in sexual abuse allegations.
(YDN)

Reverend Stephen White, infamous for preaching against homosexuality and sexual promiscuity at Yale and other college campuses, now faces charges that he solicited sex from a teenage boy in a Philadelphia suburb.

In recent years, White -- known to students as "Brother Stephen" -- has made informal speeches on Cross Campus and Beinecke Plaza denouncing minorities, homosexuals, religious groups and aspects of popular culture.

White was arrested in June after he allegedly offered $20 to a 14-year-old boy in West Chester, Pa. for permission to perform oral sex on him.

According to the boy's sworn affidavit, White approached him in a green Ford van and asked if he knew of any strip clubs, adult book stores or shops that sold sexually explicit videos. When then the boy said he did not, White unsuccessfully attempted to lure the boy into the vehicle. White then told the boy he could "make some money" by letting White perform fellatio on him.
