1. Here's the article from the Guardian
Guardian targets American audience
The Guardian plans to expand its print and online presence in America as part of its ambition to become the biggest liberal voice in world media.

"Our ambition is to be the leading global liberal voice," Carolyn McCall, the Guardian Newspapers Limited chief executive, told delegates at the the World Newspaper Congress in Moscow.

Speaking later, she said huge interest in the Guardian from Americans gave the newspaper an opportunity to expand.

"We will be announcing quite soon our plans for America, which will include expanding on the web, signing up people in the States, and we are also going to do print," Ms McCall said.

7. Well whoopee doo
looks like there may be more than half a chance of you getting some honest unbiased news over there at last.

Be warned - in Private Eye their nick name has always been the Grauniad. That's due to their sheer number of spelling mistakes etc.

9. You folk spell a lot of words wrong, sorry, Differently than we do...
...so usually we just chalk it up to that and let it go.

I recently learned, that the reason we spell words like color/colour, favorite/favourite, honor/honour, etc., was the result of Daniel Webster's desire to create an American dialect.

15. Words like that are pronounced the same
Some of your words have been made simpler to spell without any dialect change although that doesn't explain alumin<i>um. Must confess that these days I'm not really bothered whether I us your speling or ours. Dialect differences are a whole different issue - let's just leave it that we probably amuse each other in the nicest possible way.

The mistakes to which I referred which caused them to be renamed the Grauniad implies they were switching letters as in Goerge Bsuh <the well known tpying error>.

They way in which newspapers are set up these days may well have overcome the problem. I suppose it's quite possible that their typesetters were just trying to annoy and catch out their proof readers. A lot of people who were early tewnties in the early sixties still call them the Grauniad out of sentiment.

16. See above for an explanation
Intentionally or unintentionally you used a good example of that which the Guardian/Grauniad was capable - "alot" is "a lot" :)

10. I hope they have a bigger presence in this country than any
right wing rag. I've aways felt that sooner or later someone will begin to see that we are a huge market waiting to be served.

14. I've wondered at that myself
Faux News has made a financial killing by orienting themselves towards the ultra-right-wing radical portion of the population. If it's financially advantageous to pitch to that portion of the population, why isn't it as advantageous to pitch to the presumably much larger portion of the population which doesn't worship fascism?

18. because the larger portion of the population is Sane!
These right wing fanatics are crazy, they never reason, they only act out of blind faith. They are like a cult. They are easier to control, and they think alike. Fox news knows this, and they exploit them.

The sane population on the other hand, can think as individuals. They have many different opinons. They get their news from a variety of sources.
